First work out whether you mean a stream you are watching or one you are broadcasting. If playback stops for just you, check your device and connection; if you are the broadcaster or several viewers are affected, inspect the shared network and YouTube’s stream health. The available guidance does not establish a general India-specific cause, so your city or country alone is not a diagnosis.
Start by identifying what “stopping” means
Note whether the video buffers and resumes, the YouTube app closes, or the broadcast itself ends. Those symptoms can point to different problems. Also note the device, whether you are on Wi-Fi or mobile data, and whether other viewers can watch. These observations help separate a playback problem from a broadcast problem.
If you are watching the meditation stream
Try these checks in order. Change one thing at a time so you can see whether the problem follows your device or connection.
- Try another supported device. Open the same stream on another phone, computer, or TV if available. If it works there, focus on the original device or its YouTube app. YouTube recommends trying another supported device when playback remains faulty: Troubleshoot streaming and video issues.
- Switch networks. If you are on Wi-Fi, try mobile data; if you are on mobile data, try Wi-Fi. If the stream works on one connection but not the other, that is a useful clue about the connection, not proof of a particular ISP fault. Switching to mobile data may use your data allowance. YouTube also recommends changing the internet connection as a troubleshooting step (YouTube Help).
- Check whether the issue is limited to one stream. Try another YouTube live stream and an ordinary video. Ask whether another person on the same network can watch the meditation stream. If other YouTube videos also stop on your device, investigate the device or connection; if only this stream fails, the broadcaster’s stream may be involved.
- Refresh the app and device. In the YouTube app, clear its cache, then retry. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance also suggests restarting or updating the device. On a TV, try lowering playback quality if the available connection cannot sustain the selected quality (YouTube Help).
If you are the broadcaster
Use viewer reports to narrow the fault before changing encoder settings or replacing equipment. YouTube’s guidance distinguishes a problem reported by one viewer from one affecting multiple viewers on the same or different connections (Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).

- One viewer reports trouble: the viewer’s device or internet connection is a likely place to start.
- Several viewers on the same network report trouble: check that shared connection and its capacity.
- Viewers on different connections report trouble: inspect your encoder and stream health as well as your outbound connection.
Check Live Control Room
Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to access Live Control Room. Check stream health and any displayed messages while the broadcast is running. YouTube says its live metrics include stream health and specific error messages; use the reported issue to guide the next check rather than changing unrelated settings (YouTube Help).
Verify outbound bandwidth and bitrate
Download speed is not the relevant measure for sending a live stream. Check the available upload bandwidth where the encoder is connected. YouTube says the stream’s total bitrate must fit the available upload capacity and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Shared office or household use can reduce the capacity available to the encoder. A disrupted connection can break a stream (Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream; Streaming tips).

Choose a bitrate for your actual resolution, frame rate, and codec; YouTube publishes separate recommendations rather than one bitrate that suits every setup. Check the current range for your combination in YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guide. Test before the session and monitor stream health during it (YouTube Help).
Review latency and encoder messages
Check the latency setting in the live stream’s settings. Lower latency can make interaction more immediate, but YouTube warns that “Lower latency may mean more playback buffering.” For a meditation session with little need for real-time interaction, compare the available latency choices and test before the next session; changing latency is one possible check, not a guaranteed fix (Manage live stream settings).

Being in India does not by itself identify why a stream stops. The available YouTube guidance is general troubleshooting advice; it does not establish an India-wide fault, a particular city-level outage, or a problem with any specific Indian ISP or mobile operator. To investigate a local connection issue, you would need details such as your city or region, provider, device and app, connection type, exact symptom, and whether other viewers are affected.
