To put a church logo on a YouTube sermon stream, add it as an Image source in your encoder—such as OBS—then position it over the video. Include that source in every scene where the logo should appear. YouTube receives the finished picture from the encoder; the logo is part of that picture, not a channel-watermark setting.

What you need before adding the logo

  • A logo image file. A transparent-background image is usually the cleanest choice because it avoids placing a solid rectangle over the sermon video. The OBS walkthrough cited below recommends a transparent image; it does not specify a universal pixel size or file-size limit.
  • An encoder configured to send a live stream to YouTube. This guide uses OBS for the logo overlay.
  • A YouTube stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to broadcast to your channel.

Add the church logo in OBS

  1. Prepare the image. Choose a transparent-background version of your church logo if available. If the logo has a solid background, it will cover the video wherever that background appears. The cited walkthrough does not establish a required format, resolution, or file-size limit, so use an image file OBS can load and check its appearance in the preview.
  2. Open the scene you want to brand. In OBS, select the scene in the Scenes list. In Sources, select the plus control and choose Image. Give the source a recognizable name, browse to the logo file, and confirm. The exact labels or layout may vary by OBS version.
  3. Size and place the logo. Adjust the image in the OBS preview. Choose a position that remains visible but does not cover the preacher’s face, lyrics, scripture, or other important material. There is no verified universal safe-area measurement or fixed best corner; check the actual program composition, including any text or graphics used during the service.
  4. Check every scene used during the service. An image source added to one scene does not automatically mean it will appear in every other scene. Add the logo to each scene that needs it, or use a scene arrangement your production already relies on. Scenes may use different logos if needed.
  5. Confirm the result in the program preview. Switch through the scenes the service will use and verify that the logo is visible, correctly sized, and clear of faces and text. Make any adjustments before starting the broadcast.

The core Image-source workflow is described in an older OBS walkthrough from OBSBOT; OBS labels can change, so treat the steps above as the general workflow rather than a version-specific screen-by-screen guide.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to use.
  2. Copy the stream’s YouTube Live server URL and stream key into the streaming settings in OBS. YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance for its current connection workflow.
  3. Start the encoder. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview in YouTube’s Live Control Room, check that the picture is right, then select Go live.

Do not share the stream key publicly or place it in an image, document, or public chat. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before relying on it for a service.

Keep a logo visible during a continuous stream

For a broadcast that changes scenes, make sure every scene intended for on-air use contains the appropriate logo source. Switching to a scene without it can make the logo disappear even while the stream itself continues. Check transitions and any alternate layouts, such as a scripture slide or a full-screen camera, in the OBS preview.

“Continuous” also needs a practical definition. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this is an archive rule, not a guarantee that a stream can run indefinitely or remain uninterrupted. A church planning an ongoing channel should separately plan encoder uptime, network reliability, stream restarts, and whether its archive needs are met. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not establish a way to operate a 24/7 loop indefinitely.

Choose between OBS and a hardware encoder

Route Best fit Trade-off
OBS with an Image source A church already producing its stream with a computer and OBS. Configure the source in the scenes that need the logo and keep the image file available. The cited instructions do not give a universal image dimension.
A dedicated encoder such as AJA HELO Plus A production looking for a dedicated hardware encoding setup with built-in graphics controls. Requires separate hardware and setup. YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as an option with built-in logo graphics, but it is not necessary for a basic OBS overlay. Current price and availability are not established by the cited YouTube page.

YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus among hardware options in its encoder guidance. Choose based on equipment you already have, how you want to control scenes and graphics, and budget—not because a hardware encoder is required to add a logo.

Troubleshoot common logo problems

  • The logo does not appear: Confirm the Image source is enabled in the selected scene and that OBS can still access the image file. If the service changes scenes, check that scene too.
  • The logo has an unwanted solid box: Use a transparent-background version of the logo, if available. A logo image with an opaque background will cover the picture behind it.
  • The logo is too large, too small, or covers content: Resize and reposition it in the OBS preview. Review the actual camera framing and any lyrics or scripture graphics instead of relying on a fixed corner or universal size.
  • YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that OBS has the correct server URL and stream key from the intended YouTube Live Control Room stream. Keep the key private; if exposed, replace it.
  • The broadcast preview looks right but the archive is missing: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours. It does not promise an archive for longer continuous broadcasts.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the goal is an ongoing YouTube stream of uploaded sermon recordings rather than a live camera production, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The service loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a live camera, and it streams to YouTube only.

  • Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on for the cloud stream to keep going.
  • Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, without re-encoding or quality tiers.
  • StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card, once per account.

Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery, and support; the product is the same on every plan, with only billing length changing. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Start your free StreamNeo day.
