Yes. Restream can loop a prerecorded video for a 24-hour YouTube broadcast, provided the selected video and repeat count produce the required runtime without exceeding Restream’s limit of 10 loops or 40 hours total. Looping is a paid feature. A separate caveat: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as replays, so save a local recording if you need an archive.

What “24/7” means in Restream

Restream’s prerecorded-video looping is for a planned, finite broadcast—not an endless stream. Restream documents a maximum of 10 loops and a maximum total stream duration of 40 hours. It also identifies 24-hour streaming as a use case. To make a 24-hour event, choose a video and loop count whose combined duration reaches 24 hours; the event will not continue indefinitely after its scheduled loops finish.

For example, a 4-hour video repeated six times gives a 24-hour runtime. A 3-hour video repeated eight times also reaches 24 hours. Count the original play as part of the total: do not assume “10 loops” means the original plus 10 additional repeats. Restream describes a maximum of 10 repetitions, so confirm the loop control’s displayed total when setting up the event.

How to schedule a looping prerecorded stream

  1. Open the prerecorded livestream workflow. In Restream, create a new prerecorded livestream event. Restream’s scheduling guide describes scheduling a video as a prerecorded event.
  2. Select or upload the video. Choose a video from your uploads or recordings, or upload one for the event.
  3. Enter event details and schedule. Set the event information and start time. Restream says the event begins automatically at its scheduled time.
  4. Choose YouTube as the destination. Select the connected YouTube channel for the event.
  5. Set the loop count and check runtime. Choose a repeat count no greater than 10 and ensure the resulting total duration is at most 40 hours. For a 24-hour broadcast, calculate the video duration multiplied by the number of plays, then verify the event’s displayed settings before scheduling.

Restream groups the repetitions as one event. Its documentation does not describe this as an infinite loop, so schedule only the runtime you actually need.

Can a Restream playlist loop?

No. Restream says its playlists do not currently support looping directly. Its suggested workaround is to duplicate videos in a playlist so that the sequence repeats through repeated entries; one playlist can contain up to 40 videos. This is a repeated playlist sequence, not a native playlist-loop setting, and the total event must still fit within the applicable duration limit.

Will YouTube save the full 24-hour replay?

Not necessarily. YouTube Help says it can automatically archive a livestream that is less than 12 hours, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours “may not be captured at all.” That warning concerns YouTube’s archive, not whether Restream can send a stream of that duration. A Restream event may fit its documented 40-hour limit while YouTube still fails to retain the full replay.

Plan and cost considerations

Restream describes looping as a paid feature. Its scheduling guide identifies Marathon and Media add-on plans as plans associated with looping, but current pricing and whether a particular account or region is eligible are not established here. Check the plan details in your Restream account before purchasing; do not assume that every paid plan includes looping.

Common problems and fixes

  • The event is shorter than 24 hours: Recalculate the video’s duration multiplied by the number of plays. Increase the loop count only up to Restream’s 10-loop maximum.
  • The required runtime exceeds the limit: Restream documents a maximum of 40 hours for a looping stream. Shorten the planned event or split it into separate broadcasts rather than assuming the event can run indefinitely.
  • The playlist will not repeat automatically: Direct playlist looping is not supported. Duplicate entries to create a repeated sequence, staying within the 40-video playlist allowance.
  • The YouTube replay is missing or incomplete: Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. Keep a local recording when an archive is important.
  • The looping option is unavailable: Looping is paid and Restream’s scheduling guide names specific plan types. Check your account’s current plan eligibility and feature availability with Restream before scheduling.
