Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo enable Super Chat, your channel must meet YouTube’s fan-funding requirements and you must turn it on in YouTube Studio under Earn > Supers. The stream also needs live chat enabled and must not fall into a video category where Supers are unavailable. For an always-on channel, plan separately for replays: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured in the archive.
Check eligibility before changing settings
Super Chat is part of YouTube’s fan-funding features, not a setting available to every channel by default. YouTube’s requirements include joining the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, living in a location where the feature is available, and accepting and complying with the applicable terms. If your channel is managed by an MCN, the MCN may also need to meet the relevant terms. Review YouTube’s Commerce Products monetization policies and Super Chat eligibility, availability and policies for current conditions in your location.
YPP entry thresholds are not a guarantee
YouTube lists a lower YPP entry tier for several fan-funding features: 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Meeting those thresholds does not by itself guarantee Super Chat access. Feature availability, additional rules, and YouTube’s channel review still apply. Ad-revenue eligibility has separate, higher thresholds; do not use those as a substitute for checking Supers eligibility. See YouTube’s YPP monetization options and thresholds.
Turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio
On a computer
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- From the left menu, select Earn, then open Supers. If Supers is missing, check your channel’s eligibility and regional availability.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If prompted, review and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM). YouTube says creators who previously accepted the Commerce Product Addendum (CPA) do not need to sign the replacement CPM.
- Turn on the Super Chat switch. To offer Super Stickers as well, enable their separate switch; they are optional and can be enabled independently.
YouTube’s current desktop instructions are in Turn Super Chat & Super Stickers on or off.

In the Android YouTube Studio app
Open the app and go to Earn > Supers card, then select Get started or Turn on and follow the prompts. If this is your first time using Supers, complete the CPM flow if asked. YouTube’s instructions are subject to change; consult its current Supers setup guidance if the labels in the app differ.
Make sure the individual livestream can use Super Chat
Turning on the channel-level feature does not override restrictions on a particular livestream. Before going live, confirm that live chat is available and enabled. Super Chat is not available for streams or videos that are age-restricted, unlisted, private, set as Made for Kids, or part of a YouTube Giving fundraiser. If live chat or comments are turned off, viewers cannot use Super Chat. YouTube’s eligibility and availability rules cover these limits; its live-stream restrictions guidance also explains the Made for Kids restriction.

- Confirm live chat is enabled for the event or stream, not just generally available on the channel.
- Check that the stream is public rather than unlisted or private and is not age-restricted or a fundraiser.
- If your channel is in an MCN, check any applicable rights-administration requirements as well as YouTube’s terms.
Plan for archives on a 24/7 channel
Super Chat setup does not solve the replay problem for a continuous broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive limitation, not a stated Super Chat time limit: the guidance does not say that Supers stop working after 12 hours.
If you need a replay, keep a local recording as a backup, as YouTube recommends in its live-stream archiving guidance. Decide whether to segment the broadcast or maintain a separate local archive based on your channel’s operational and editorial needs; YouTube’s guidance does not establish one best segmentation strategy for every always-on channel.

Understand earnings and moderation
YouTube states that creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted. The figure is from YouTube Help; its page does not state a publication year and was verified on October 3, 2026. Super Chat is a paid audience message feature, not a donation tool. You can moderate Super Chats and Stickers like other live-chat messages, and review revenue in YouTube Analytics. See Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat.

Super Chat is a YouTube Studio monetization feature; it does not require special equipment. YouTube describes encoder streaming as one option for live production and says expensive equipment is not required to start. For a channel that plays uploaded recordings continuously, you can operate the stream yourself with your own equipment or use a cloud service.
