Is Zach Charbonnet playing against the Chargers?
No. Seattle listed Charbonnet out for its October 4 Week 4 game against the Chargers because he was not yet eligible to return from reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP). The Seahawks’ October 2 injury report confirms his Thursday participation and Week 4 status: Seattle’s Week 4 injury report.
What does “limited in both practices” mean?
The Seahawks recorded Charbonnet as limited in Thursday’s practice, his first session after being designated to return. CBS Sports, citing Seahawks senior reporter John Boyle, reported that he was limited again Friday: CBS Sports’ Friday practice report.
“Limited” describes practice participation; it does not mean full practice, medical clearance, roster activation, or readiness to play. Those are separate steps, and the reports do not establish that any of them had occurred.

When can Charbonnet return?
Week 5 was the earliest stated possibility for Charbonnet to return to a game, according to Seattle’s October 2 report. It is not a confirmed return date. His activation and playing status for Week 5 were not established in the reports available as of October 3.
His practice window
Seattle designated Charbonnet to return to practice on October 1, opening a 21-day window. During that period, he can practice without counting against the 53-player roster limit. Before the window closes, Seattle must add him to the roster or keep him on PUP for the rest of the season. Opening the window starts that roster process; it does not guarantee activation or game readiness. The team explained the process in its October 1 announcement.

Why was Charbonnet on reserve/PUP?
Charbonnet tore his ACL in Seattle’s divisional-round win over San Francisco and had offseason knee surgery. The Seahawks said in July that there was no timetable for his return at that point. He began the 2026 season on reserve/PUP, which required him to miss at least the first four games. Seattle’s season-opening PUP announcement described the minimum absence; its July offseason update covered the surgery and timetable.

Head coach Mike Macdonald discussed the practice-window decision in the team’s October 1 report. On the timing and roster considerations, he said, “It’s a matter of how many practices they need, roster spots and things like that.” He also said Charbonnet was “doing a great job” and was “in a great position mentally.” The comments do not confirm a return date or game clearance.
