Joel Vlashof of VJM Aviation collaborated on a printable RC F-35B design whose standout feature is a swiveling rear nozzle: it redirects thrust for the project’s vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) concept and can also support aerobatics. It is a build-from-files project, not a ready-to-fly aircraft. RC-Jetprint’s listing identifies it as version 2.0, dated July 2024, and specifies a 22 × 22 × 22 cm print volume and 1.75 mm filament. Those are the maker’s design specifications, not independently verified flight-test results.
What the RC-Jetprint F-35B is—and what makes it unusual
The project is a printable radio-controlled model inspired by the F-35B, the short-takeoff-and-vertical-landing variant of the fighter. Its defining mechanism is a movable rear nozzle. By rotating the nozzle, the design redirects propulsion for vertical flight; the listing also describes thrust-vector control and pivoting slats. The combination is what distinguishes the design from a conventional fixed-nozzle RC jet.
RC-Jetprint describes the aircraft as designed in collaboration with Joel Vlashof of VJM Aviation. Its F-35B listing labels the design version 2.0 (07.2024). VJM Aviation likewise describes a printable F-35B with a rotatable rear nozzle and thrust-vector control. The site calls the aircraft suitable for aerobatics and VTOL and “very easy to fly,” but that is the vendor’s characterization—not an independent assessment or a published test result.
What you need to know before attempting the build
Printer and filament
RC-Jetprint specifies a 22 × 22 × 22 cm print volume and names the Bambu Lab X1C as one example of a printer. It recommends Bambu Studio and lists LW-PLA, PLA, and PA-CF low-warp nylon, all in 1.75 mm filament diameter. These are the design provider’s recommendations; the listing does not establish that every material works equally well for every part or printer.

LW-PLA is the most directly relevant search term for a physical filament because the design page names it explicitly. A printer with roughly 220 mm of build space in each dimension is relevant to the published volume, but check the design files and your printer’s usable build area before buying or slicing anything.
This is not a complete aircraft specification
The public listing details print guidance and the nozzle concept, but the documented information here does not establish a complete bill of materials for the printable F-35B. In particular, do not assume a particular EDF, battery, ESC, or radio setup from specifications published for another aircraft. Confirm the required electronics, hardware, assembly steps, and any flight-control requirements in the actual design package before committing to a build.

Keep the F-35B separate from the Kestrel-X
VJM Aviation’s website presents Kestrel-X as a separate prototype VTOL platform used to test its flight computer and F-35B swivel module. Its specifications are not specifications for the printable RC-Jetprint F-35B.

These figures come from VJM Aviation’s project site, whose specifications are undated and were accessed in 2026. They describe Kestrel-X, not the printable F-35B; they should not be used to select parts for the F-35B without aircraft-specific confirmation.

Other F-35B and VTOL projects are not the same design
Several related projects can be easy to confuse because they share the F-35B or swivel-nozzle theme:
- Kestrel trainer: In a video published October 5, 2024, Joel and Melanie Vlashof describe Kestrel files released as a simpler VTOL trainer for people who find the F-35B too complex. That is useful context for the project family, not proof that the trainer is the F-35B design. Watch the trainer video.
- Later large composite replica: A separate video published September 7, 2025, describes a planned 1:8-scale composite F-35B replica and mentions a K2 Plus printer and foaming filament. Those details belong to that later project, not the RC-Jetprint version 2.0 listing. Watch the later project video.
- Lofted Aero swivel module: Lofted Aero sells a separate digital 90 mm Three-Bearing Swivel Module package, with STL and preconfigured 3MF files, a guide, and suggested hardware. Its page says it is compatible with FMS 90 mm Special Metal EDF units; that does not establish that RC-Jetprint’s aircraft uses the module or those EDFs. See the module listing.
- Lofted Aero F-35B: Lofted Aero also lists a separate 90 mm EDF F-35B VTOL digital design, with STL and 3MF files, foam-part templates, ArduPilot firmware files, a RealFlight model, and a guide. Its contents should not be assumed to match the RC-Jetprint design. See that design listing.
Where to find files and assess build experience
Start with the RC-Jetprint F-35B page for the design that matches the described version 2.0 aircraft. Check the listing for current file availability, included parts, and purchase terms; do not assume that a similarly named file or product from another seller is interchangeable.

The public documentation supports a clear description of the concept: a printable F-35B model, a maker-documented rotating rear nozzle with thrust-vector control, stated VTOL capability, pivoting slats, and print guidance for a 220 mm cube build volume using 1.75 mm filament. It does not establish independent flight performance, a verified ease-of-flying assessment, or the exact electronics and propulsion bill of materials for the printable aircraft. Treat those as questions to resolve from the design package and builder documentation, not by borrowing figures from Kestrel-X or another seller’s F-35B.
