Florida’s 2026 General Election is November 3. To have a ballot mailed to you, request it from your county Supervisor of Elections by 5 p.m. on October 22. If you vote by mail, the county must receive your completed ballot by 7 p.m. local time on Election Day; a postmark is not enough.

Request a vote-by-mail ballot

Contact the Supervisor of Elections in the Florida county where you are registered. Florida allows requests by signed writing, in person, or by phone. The request must include your name, date of birth, address, and an identifier the office can verify: your Florida driver license or ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number. A written request must be signed. Use your county office’s website to find its submission options and confirm any local instructions. See the Florida Division of Elections vote-by-mail guidance.

The statewide deadline to request that a ballot be mailed is 5 p.m. on October 22, 2026, the 12th day before the election. The deadline has not passed as of October 3, 2026, but contact your county office promptly rather than waiting until the cutoff. The date is listed on the state’s 2026 election calendar.

Action Deadline or dates

County receives domestic vote-by-mail ballot November 3, 2026, by 7 p.m. local time

Requesting a ballot, mailing it back, and having it received are separate steps with different timing. The state relays the USPS recommendation that domestic nonmilitary voters mail ballots at least one week before Election Day to allow for unforeseen events or weather. That is a recommendation, not a replacement for the legal receipt deadline. Check the state’s vote-by-mail instructions and county guidance for local delivery and drop-off details.

Complete and return the ballot early

Follow the instructions included with your ballot, then return it as early as possible. The county Supervisor of Elections must receive a domestic voter’s ballot by 7 p.m. local time on November 3. Mailing it by that time—or having it postmarked by then—does not meet the deadline if it arrives late.

Florida allows return by mail, private or commercial carrier, in person, or through secure drop boxes at designated county locations. Drop-box locations, availability, and hours are county-specific, so verify them with your Supervisor of Elections. If returning the ballot by mail, allow time for delivery and use the state’s one-week mailing recommendation as a minimum planning guide, not a guarantee.

Track the request and returned ballot

Use Florida’s Vote-by-Mail Ballot Information and Status Lookup to check the request and return status. If the status is missing or does not match what you expect, contact your county election office; county officials can confirm the local record and explain next steps. The state’s voting FAQ also addresses common questions such as “Where is my ballot?”

Change plans and vote in person

You may choose to vote in person after requesting a vote-by-mail ballot. If possible, bring the mail ballot with you to the polling place. If you cannot bring it, election officials will check whether the county has already received it and determine whether you can vote a regular ballot or must use a provisional ballot.

Florida also offers early voting and Election Day voting. Mandatory early voting for the 2026 general election runs October 24–31, with counties able to offer additional days. Confirm early-voting locations and hours, as well as Election Day polling details, with your county Supervisor of Elections. The state’s Voting page outlines the available ways to vote.

Fix a signature problem

If the county notifies you that your ballot signature is missing or does not match its records, follow the notice and submit the state’s cure affidavit with identification. The deadline is 5 p.m. local time on the second day after the election. Consult the county notice and the state’s vote-by-mail instructions for the required documents and submission process.
