Valve marks the game Verified, but that rating does not guarantee that every individual session will run without problems. Steam and the game’s official listing offer general troubleshooting and one performance tip; they do not identify a confirmed game-specific crash cause or a fix guaranteed to stop one.
Before troubleshooting: note what fails
Pay attention to whether only the game closes to the library, the entire Deck restarts, or the crash happens at the same point each time. Those symptoms are useful when deciding which checks to try and what to tell Steam Support; on their own, they do not identify the cause.
Normal Golf Game is listed as Steam Deck Verified, meaning Valve considers it to work well on Deck by default. Compatibility status is useful context, not a promise that an individual installation or session cannot fail. See the game’s Steam listing and Valve’s explanation of Steam Deck Verified.
Try these seven troubleshooting steps

Install SteamOS updates and restart

Temporarily disable third-party Deck apps
Exit or disable applications you installed through Desktop Mode, restart the Deck, and try the game again. This can help rule out software interference, but it does not mean any particular app is known to cause this game to crash. Verify the game’s installed files
In your Steam library, open Normal Golf Game’s Properties > Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Steam says verification can help with crashes or missing content. Test a different Proton version if crashes continue
Open the game’s Properties > Compatibility and enable the option to force a specific Steam Play compatibility tool. Try the latest available Proton version. Steam recommends this as a general troubleshooting test for a problematic app, not as a confirmed fix for Normal Golf Game. If it does not help, return to the original setting. Reduce graphics load for performance problems
Lower the graphics preset or reduce individual settings to ease system load. The game’s Steam listing specifically notes that playing at 1080p with low grass density can make a big difference on slower computers. Clear the download cache if the game will not start
If the game fails to launch, go to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache. Steam says clearing the cache does not affect installed games, but you will need to sign in again. Steam’s guidance addresses games that will not download or start, so this is a targeted step for launch problems rather than a general remedy for crashes during play. Contact Steam Support if it still crashes
If the checks do not help, contact Steam Support and look for relevant reports in Steam Deck discussions. When reporting the problem, describe whether the game closes, the Deck restarts, or the crash occurs at a repeatable point. That information can help support investigate, but it does not establish a cause by itself.
