Will Richard took part in 5-on-5 work with the Golden State Warriors’ third group at training camp on Thursday, October 1, 2026, according to a CBS Sports report carrying RotoWire’s item and citing San Francisco Chronicle reporter Luca Evans. That describes a camp practice group—not a confirmed third-string designation or a settled regular-season role.
What the report says
The October 1 CBS Sports/RotoWire report says Richard participated in 5-on-5 work with the Warriors’ third team at camp that Thursday. It attributes the observation to Luca Evans of the San Francisco Chronicle; the Chronicle’s original article was not independently available in the sources reviewed here. Read the CBS Sports report.
What “third team” does—and does not—mean
In this report, “third team” identifies the group Richard worked with during a camp practice. It does not establish that Golden State has assigned him a permanent third-string role, announced its final depth chart, or decided his regular-season minutes.
The report says Richard could be near the back of the rotation if the Warriors stay healthy. That is a conditional assessment, not a coach-announced role or a playing-time projection. A practice grouping on one date cannot settle how the rotation will look during the season.
