The Houston Texans placed running back Noah Whittington on the practice-squad injured list on October 1, 2026. CBS Sports, citing Houston Chronicle reporter Jonathan M. Alexander, reported that Whittington suffered a torn quadriceps during practice that week; the Texans’ transaction listing did not disclose an injury diagnosis or recovery timetable.
What happened to Noah Whittington?
Houston’s official transaction listing says the team placed Whittington on the “Practice Squad, Injured list” on October 1, 2026. The Texans did not provide a medical explanation in that listing. CBS Sports attributed its report of a torn quad sustained in practice that week to Houston Chronicle reporter Jonathan M. Alexander. That injury description is media reporting, not a diagnosis published by the team.
How long will Whittington be out?
No confirmed return date or full recovery timeline is available in the cited reports. CBS Sports said the roster move would make Whittington ineligible for elevation for four weeks and noted that he could be sidelined longer. The four-week period concerns elevation eligibility; it does not establish when he will be healthy or return to play.
Can the Texans elevate him from the practice squad?
Not during the four-week period described by CBS Sports. NFL.com’s late-August practice-squad tracker listed Whittington among Houston’s running backs, while the Texans’ October 1 transaction listing records his subsequent placement on the practice-squad injured list. Neither source establishes a return date.
