Two OGC Nice supporters were acquitted of assault on 2 October 2026 in a case stemming from a confrontation between supporters and players after Nice lost 3–1 at Lorient. Le Parisien reported that police witnesses had not seen the defendants commit violence and described their actions as an attempt to calm the situation. What happened after the Lorient defeat?
After Nice lost 3–1 away to Lorient on 30 November 2025, more than 200 supporters gathered outside the club’s training centre and blocked the team bus as it returned, according to Le Parisien’s account.
The newspaper reported that Anthony D., 32, and Mohamed C., 42, were allowed onto the bus. They told the players, in forceful and vulgar language, that supporters wanted to talk. Club officials then agreed that players could walk the short distance from the bus to the training-centre gates through the crowd. Some passed without incident; others encountered spitting, insults and a violent jostle. Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi filed complaints the following day.
Why were the two supporters acquitted?
The central dispute was what the defendants did and whether their intervention led players into danger. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli characterized the episode as a “guet-apens” (ambush) and argued that the players would not have left the bus without the defendants’ intervention. The defense said the men had tried to calm the situation and denied involvement in violence.

The court acquitted them. The reporting describes testimony heard at the trial, not the court’s full written reasoning, so it does not establish precisely how the judges resolved each part of the competing accounts.
Which players complained?
Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi complained to police after the confrontation. Le Parisien reported that both were psychologically affected, did not play for Nice again and left the club in 2026. That is the newspaper’s account of what followed, rather than a claim about their current club status.

What the verdict does—and does not—say
The acquittal applies to Anthony D. and Mohamed C. in this case. Le Parisien identified them by initials and reported that both had held responsibilities in the Populaire Sud supporters’ group and had earlier convictions for football-related violence. Their reported history does not establish guilt in this case.
An earlier report by Nice Radio, published on 31 May 2026, described allegations including punches and kicks and said one player had a reported medical incapacity of five days, while the other had none. Those were pre-verdict allegations and are not findings that the acquitted men committed violence. The full court judgment and its reasoning were not available in the reviewed reporting. Neither was confirmation of whether an appeal was filed, so the result should not be presented as a broad ruling on responsibility for the crowd’s conduct.
