Dejan Kulusevski is reportedly back in full training with Tottenham and looked sharp in sessions, but there is no confirmed date for his return to competitive action. A 2 October report from RotoWire, citing Football London, says he provided a couple of assists for Mohammed Kudus in small-sided training games. The report’s suggestion that he could make a matchday squad later in October is conditional on avoiding further setbacks—not a confirmed selection or return date. RotoWire
What the latest Kulusevski training report says
RotoWire’s 2 October 2026 update, attributing its information to Football London, describes Kulusevski as training fully with Tottenham and looking sharp. It says he supplied a couple of assists for Mohammed Kudus during small-sided training games. Those are observations reported by a secondary source; the Tottenham updates cited below document earlier stages of his recovery, not an official club confirmation of this latest assessment.
The same report says Kulusevski might return to a matchday squad later in October if he avoids further setbacks. That is a conditional possibility, not a confirmed availability date, squad announcement or promise that he will play. Training participation and match fitness are separate steps, and no source cited here establishes when he will next appear in a competitive match.
What Tottenham has said about his recovery
August 2026: rehabilitation after a right patella injury
In a 5 August 2026 recovery update, Tottenham said Kulusevski was rehabilitating after a right patella injury sustained in a Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace in May 2025. The club said he had undergone a procedure on 14 May and described rehabilitation work that included running and ball work. Its stated target was for him to return at some point during the 2026/27 campaign—not by a particular match or month. Tottenham’s recovery update

21 August 2026: individual work, not group training
At the time of Tottenham’s 21 August team-news update, head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “He’s working, not with the group, but with the individual coach.” That describes Kulusevski’s status on that date. It does not settle whether he later progressed to group or full training, so it is not necessarily at odds with the newer report. Tottenham’s 21 August team-news update
Earlier recovery context
In a 8 January 2026 update, then-head coach Thomas Frank called the injury complicated and said, “The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee.” Tottenham said Kulusevski had received an injection 10 days before that press conference and that the club expected to reassess after three to four weeks. That was an assessment window given at the time, not a current prognosis. Frank also said, “If there’s one person who can accelerate that, it’s Dejan.” Tottenham’s 8 January team-news update

How the reported progress fits the timeline
- 8 January 2026: Frank described pain management as the priority and gave a three-to-four-week reassessment window at that stage.
- 5 August 2026: Tottenham described rehabilitation after a right patella injury, including running and ball work, with a broad target of returning during the 2026/27 campaign.
- 21 August 2026: De Zerbi said Kulusevski was working with an individual coach rather than the group.
- 18 September 2026: The Independent reported that De Zerbi had confirmed Kulusevski’s return to training after a long layoff. The Independent’s report
- 2 October 2026: RotoWire, citing Football London, reported full training and the conditional possibility of a later-October matchday squad appearance.
Tottenham’s August press-conference page also refers to Kulusevski having been out with a knee injury since April 2024, while the club’s recovery account describes the right-patella injury as occurring in May 2025. The cited material does not reconcile those dates. The specific May 2025 date applies to the patella episode described in the recovery account; it should not be treated as proof that he was continuously absent from April 2024 onward.
