Hints for the October 4 Strands puzzle
The theme points to familiar titles from the coin-operated arcade era. Use these clues in order, moving on only if you need more help:
- Think of classic arcade games.
- Look for well-known arcade game titles.
- Consider games with simple controls and challenging play.
- Answers span sports, action, and maze-style experiences.
How to approach the puzzle
Strands is a daily word search in which hidden words connect to a theme. Words can run diagonally as well as in other directions. For this theme, start with arcade titles you recognize, then scan for other game names and styles. Use letters revealed by a found word to narrow down the remaining paths.
According to Nerd’s Chalk, finding a non-theme word of at least four letters can earn a hint; using that hint reveals one of the theme words. If you get stuck, try searching for one of these shorter non-theme words, then use the revealed answer to reassess the board. Save the hint for when your own search stalls.
