At IROS 2026, PaXini presented tactile sensing as a foundational part of physical AI, connecting sensors to robot learning and task execution under its “PIE” framework: Perception, Intelligence, Execution. The company described a hardware stack spanning tactile sensors, a multimodal data-collection glove, dexterous hands and humanoid robots. It also reported a precision-assembly result using its PX6AX GEN3 sensor, though the underlying paper and experimental protocol were not available for independent review.

What PaXini presented at IROS 2026

A Newsfile Corp. press release dated October 3, 2026, syndicated by The National Law Review, says IROS 2026 took place in Pittsburgh from September 27 to October 1 and that PaXini presented products across tactile sensing, data collection and robotic manipulation. The event and showcase details here are those reported in the company release; they were not independently checked against an IROS source.

The release describes PaXini’s approach as a connected stack rather than a single sensor product. Its “PIE” framework organizes that strategy into three layers. This is PaXini’s own framing, not an independent assessment of the architecture or its effectiveness.

Perception: sensing contact and the physical environment

PaXini names its PX6AX-series tactile sensors, joint torque sensors, six-axis force/torque sensors, foot tactile sensors and full-body electronic skin as parts of the sensing layer. In the company’s account, tactile input helps a robot interpret contact and its surroundings—information that can complement visual perception when an object is touched, pushed or manipulated.

Intelligence: using data and experience

The middle layer is meant to turn collected signals and prior experience into adaptation and generalization. PaXini also described a data-collection glove that records tactile, visual and joint-angle signals simultaneously. The release does not provide technical specifications, data formats or evidence comparing the glove’s output with other collection methods.

Execution: acting through hands and robots

For execution, the company mentioned tactile dexterous hands and humanoid robots with integrated tactile sensors. Together, these examples illustrate the intended connection between sensing and physical action: the robot detects contact, uses information to guide its response, and carries out a manipulation task. The release does not establish which robot platforms support which products or detail integration requirements.

What the reported assembly result shows—and does not show

The press release credits a team from the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), led by Prof. Long Cheng and Xinpan Meng, with an accepted paper on a sub-millimeter precision-assembly task. It says PX6AX GEN3 was the paper’s sole physical tactile data source and reports a 67% insertion success rate under 0.05 mm clearance, a 60% reduction in maximum interaction force and a 44% reduction in torque. These are figures reported by PaXini’s October 2026 release.

The underlying paper, baseline definition, sample size and experimental protocol were not available in the retrieved material. As a result, those figures should be read as company-reported results for the described task—not independently verified performance, a general benchmark for tactile sensing or evidence that the same results will transfer to other objects, robots or assembly conditions.

PaXini’s research collaboration program

The release also presents PaXini Global Horizons (PGH) as a collaboration program for research institutions, universities and industry partners. PaXini says it began two months before the October 3, 2026 release and provides funding, products and data resources. The company reported nearly 200 scholars, industry leaders and investors at GEEN 2026 · IROS, responses from more than 100 universities and research institutions, and over 50 research projects initiated through PGH.

Those participation and program figures come from the company release. It does not give eligibility criteria or detailed terms, so prospective participants should confirm the program’s current status and conditions directly with PaXini before relying on them.

What the showcase does not establish

The release gives product categories and a research outcome, but not enough detail to judge the products against alternatives or determine whether they are available for purchase. It does not provide comparable sensor specifications, prices, integration protocols, durability information or independent competitor testing. Nor does it establish market availability for the named hardware. The showcase is evidence of how PaXini describes its strategy and reported work; it is not, on its own, a comparative performance assessment.
