HMD Pocket Link is described in leak reports as a dedicated portable 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, but HMD has not confirmed the device. The reports list several possible specifications, while price, release timing, supported 5G bands, and carrier compatibility remain unknown.
What is HMD Pocket Link?
IT之家 reported on October 2, 2026, that an X account named smashx_60 had disclosed a device called HMD Pocket Link. The report describes it as a portable 5G Wi-Fi hotspot: a standalone device intended to share a mobile connection over Wi-Fi, rather than a phone’s tethering feature. IT之家’s report and Notebookcheck’s coverage both attribute the details to the leak.
The reports do not establish an official announcement or release. HMD’s newsroom is its official press hub, but the reviewed results did not surface a Pocket Link announcement. For now, “could be HMD’s first” is more accurate than calling it the company’s first portable 5G hotspot: that distinction has not been verified.
Specifications reported in the leak
IT之家 reports the following possible features. These are leak-attributed details, not a final HMD specification sheet.

| Chipset | Unisoc T157 5G octa-core chipset |
| Battery | 3,000mAh |
| Charging | USB-C |

| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 5 |
| Other feature | A feature called “Save Data+” |
Notebookcheck also reports a 1.77-inch display, Unisoc T157 chipset, 3,000mAh battery, USB-C, nano-SIM, and Wi-Fi 5. Neither report establishes final specifications, supported 5G bands, regional versions, or carrier certification. The “5G” label alone is not enough to determine whether the device would work with a particular carrier or in a particular country.
Price, release date, and availability
The reported leak coverage does not give a price or release date, according to Notebookcheck. The material reviewed also does not establish launch countries or retail availability. Pocket Link should not be treated as a product that can currently be bought.

What to check before considering a 5G hotspot
If HMD confirms Pocket Link, its practical value will depend on more than the reported chipset and battery capacity. Before choosing it or another dedicated hotspot, check:
- Carrier and band support: Confirm the exact 5G bands and carrier certification for your country and mobile provider.
- SIM arrangements: Verify whether it uses a physical SIM, supports eSIM, and works with the data plan you intend to use.
- Battery performance: Look for a stated runtime and how it was measured; a capacity figure alone does not establish how long the hotspot will last.
- Wi-Fi and connected devices: Check the Wi-Fi standard and supported client count against the devices you plan to connect.
- Management features: Confirm what the screen displays and what “Save Data+” does before relying on it to control usage.
- Local price and availability: Compare the actual price and release status in your market once HMD publishes them.
Until HMD publishes those details, there is not enough verified information to judge Pocket Link against other hotspots or recommend it for a particular carrier or use case.
