Fallout 76 servers went offline for scheduled, all-platform maintenance on October 1, 2026, beginning at 10 AM ET (9 AM CT). Bethesda said the update focused on stability and several platform-specific issues. Its staff reported maintenance still underway at 10:04 AM ET; the available official notices do not confirm when all servers returned.
Why were Fallout 76 servers down on October 1?
Bethesda announced planned maintenance to deploy an update, rather than describing an unexpected outage. The game was scheduled to go offline on every platform at 10 AM ET (9 AM CT) on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Bethesda said the date had moved from September 29 so the team could include additional stability fixes. What did the October 1 Fallout 76 update fix?
Bethesda said the update improved stability across all platforms. The listed changes were:
- Fixes for scenarios Bethesda identified as leading causes of crashes on PlayStation and Xbox.
- A correction to the unique appearances of the Head Hunter Scythe, Cauterizer, and Drill Fist.
- A fix for an Xbox networking issue associated with more lag, disconnects, and slow looting.
- Other stability improvements.

When did Fallout 76 servers come back online?
Bethesda staff posted at 10:04 AM ET that servers were still undergoing maintenance. The official notices covered here do not give a confirmed all-platform restoration time, so a specific time for servers to return cannot be verified from them. They also do not state an update version number or platform download sizes.

What to do if you still cannot connect
If the status portal shows an outage or maintenance, wait for Bethesda to resolve it; local network changes will not restore a service that is offline. If service is available but you still have a connection problem on PC, Bethesda recommends these checks:
- Try a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.
- Restart your router.
- Check whether your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the game.
- Check the router ports listed in Bethesda’s PC connection troubleshooting guidance.
These steps address possible local PC connection problems. They will not fix scheduled maintenance, game-side crashes, or the Xbox networking issue Bethesda described in its update notes.
