Fallout 76 update 1.000.003 was reported on October 1, 2026, as a stability-focused patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The reported fix list comes from MP1st, not an official Bethesda patch-note page, so treat the individual changes as reported rather than independently confirmed. Bethesda had released native PS5 and Xbox Series versions on September 15, 2026.
What Fallout 76 update 1.000.003 reportedly fixes
MP1st’s October 1 report identifies update 1.000.003 as primarily for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and describes these changes:
- Fixes for scenarios described as leading causes of crashes on PlayStation and Xbox.
- A correction to a unique-appearance issue affecting the Head Hunter Scythe, Cauterizer, and Drill Fist.
- An Xbox networking fix for an issue associated with increased lag, disconnects, and slow looting.
- Other stability improvements.
MP1st also reported that some issues remained: a jet-pack glitch, Atomic Shop outfits that could not be crafted, stacked Grave Digger maps, and infestations being cleared instantly. Its report said a future update was planned for the uncraftable outfits. This is not a complete or Bethesda-verified list of known issues.
The report’s search result was available, but its article page returned an access error, and no official October 1 patch-note page was found. Accordingly, these specific fixes should be attributed to MP1st rather than presented as confirmed by Bethesda.

Is Fallout 76 updated for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S?
Yes. Bethesda’s September 15, 2026 release notes for “The Slasher” say native PS5 and Xbox Series versions were available from their respective platform stores. That retail release preceded the October 1 patch report; it was not the same update.
Bethesda’s stated aims for the native versions were improved performance and stability on current-generation hardware, with more ability to tune the game for Gen9 and Gen8 hardware. The release notes call these platform capabilities targets, not independently measured results.

These are Bethesda’s published targets and support statements; they do not establish that every console achieves a fixed frame rate in every gameplay situation. VRR and the stated 4K targets require compatible displays.
Do you need to download Fallout 76 again?
To access the native console version, Bethesda says you must redownload the entire game from the relevant platform store. This is a full-game redownload requirement, not a stated download size for update 1.000.003.

Bethesda listed these download sizes for the separate September 2026 release, version 1.7.26.13:

Bethesda said the game had been repackaged to reduce its overall installed size, which made that September download larger than usual. These figures apply to version 1.7.26.13, not to October’s reported update 1.000.003.

How the native release relates to the earlier test
The retail launch followed a separate testing period. Bethesda’s June 2 notes announced public testing for Xbox Series X|S and PS5/Pro, with testing planned for June and release later that summer. Xbox Wire’s August 26, 2026 post documented the Xbox Series public test server: access required Xbox Insider status and either ownership of Fallout 76 or an active Game Pass subscription. Xbox Wire said PTS progress would not carry over to the live game and warned that test content was unfinished.
