There is no established universal winner. For AI that answers inbound service calls and books appointments, start by comparing Mia and Podium Service AI; consider AutoAce for a similar inbound-and-outbound scope. Lineshift is positioned for broader dealership call workflows, while Kimoby Voice is designed to catch calls staff miss and hand them to advisors—not to book appointments today. The right choice depends on your call strategy, booking requirements and exact DMS and scheduler setup.
What should a dealership expect an AI call platform to do?
“AI call automation” can mean several different things. A platform may answer every inbound call, make outbound reminder or recall calls, handle only calls staff fail to answer, or combine service calls with sales, parts and routing workflows. These are different operating models; compare products against the job you need done rather than the label “AI.”
- Answer-first: The AI picks up inbound calls and may handle questions or book appointments.
- Outbound: The AI contacts customers about maintenance, recalls, declined work or other campaigns.
- Overflow: Staff remain the first point of contact; the AI responds only when a call goes unanswered.
- Broader voice workflows: One system may handle service, sales qualification, parts enquiries and routing.
How do the named platforms compare?
| Platform | Stated service-call scope | Booking and handoff | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mia | Inbound calls, maintenance reminders, recall outreach, OEM campaigns and after-hours coverage. | Its service page says it books appointments into the DMS. | Mia lists integrations including CDK, Tekion, VinSolutions, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, vAuto and xTime; verify the exact rooftop configuration and workflow. |
| Podium Service AI / Jerry | Service inquiries, follow-up on declined services, and outbound campaigns using mileage triggers, repair-order history and recall flags. | Podium says Jerry books into dealership systems; its FAQ names Xtime and Tekion for direct booking. | Confirm whether your own scheduler and system setup are supported, not just the product category. |
| AutoAce | Its product page describes 24/7 inbound and outbound calls, appointment booking and follow-ups. | The page claims DMS/CRM syncing and lists CDK, Dealertrack, Reynolds & Reynolds, Tekion and Xtime. | AutoAce says its SOC 2 Type II audit is in progress; that is not the same as a completed audit. |
| Lineshift | Service booking, sales qualification, parts enquiries, routing and outbound campaigns. | Lineshift says it can check workshop availability and write outcomes to DMS, CRM, workshop planning and other dealership systems. | The vendor describes operations in the U.S. and Europe. Confirm availability and integrations for your location. |
| Kimoby Voice | Missed-call response: it answers after staff do not pick up, identifies callers and open repair orders, captures requests, and can offer a switch to text. | It routes recordings, transcripts and AI summaries to the appropriate advisor. Its FAQ says it does not book appointments today; online booking is on the roadmap. | Choose it for unanswered-call capture and follow-up rather than confirmed appointment booking. |
| Brooke.ai | A Proactive Dealer Solutions press release describes an agent that accesses an online scheduler, gathers the requested service and transfers complex calls. | The release says the agent matches a slot to dealership constraints and confirms it. | This description comes from a vendor press release, not an independent product assessment. |
These descriptions are vendor-published claims, not proof that every listed workflow will work with every dealership configuration. A product-page integration logo or general compatibility claim does not establish live availability checks, confirmed appointment writes or the permissions needed at a specific rooftop.
Which platform is the best fit for each call strategy?
For inbound calls and direct appointment booking
Shortlist Mia and Podium Service AI first, then compare AutoAce if you want an inbound-and-outbound option. Their published descriptions include appointment booking, but you should confirm whether the system can check your live schedule and create a confirmed appointment in the systems your advisors use. “Books appointments” can conceal meaningful differences in the actual booking workflow.

For multiple dealership call workflows
Lineshift is the broad-scope candidate in this group: its published offering extends beyond service booking to sales qualification, parts enquiries, routing and outbound campaigns. That breadth matters if you want one voice platform to handle several departments; it may be unnecessary if the requirement is only overflow pickup or service appointments.
For missed calls and advisor follow-up
Kimoby Voice is specifically described as an overflow agent. It captures the caller’s request and gives the advisor context through routed recordings, transcripts and summaries. Because Kimoby says appointment booking is not currently available, it is not a substitute for a platform that must independently book a confirmed slot.
Rank #2
For outbound reminders, recalls or declined work
Mia describes maintenance reminders, recall outreach and OEM campaigns. Podium describes follow-up on declined services and campaigns informed by mileage, repair-order history and recall flags. Lineshift also describes outbound campaigns. Ask each vendor to demonstrate the campaign types you intend to run and how customer, vehicle and repair-order data are used.
What should you verify before choosing?
- Define the call strategy. Decide whether the AI should answer all inbound calls, make outbound calls, answer only when staff miss a call, or cover several workflows.
- Test booking depth. Ask the vendor to demonstrate a real appointment flow: checking the relevant availability, applying dealership constraints, writing the booking to the scheduler and confirming it to the caller. If the product only captures a request for staff, treat that as message-taking rather than direct booking.
- Check the exact integration path. Name the dealership’s DMS, scheduler, phone system and relevant data permissions. Confirm which workflows are supported in that configuration and have the vendor explain what happens when an integration or data lookup fails.
- Exercise escalation and exceptions. Test warm transfers, advisor routing, whether context follows the caller, and how the system handles complicated requests or cases that cannot be booked. Agree on what the caller hears when a transfer or booking cannot be completed.
- Run a comparable pilot. Use representative calls and agreed definitions for outcomes such as completed bookings, correctly routed requests and successful escalations. Include after-hours or overflow calls if those are part of the intended deployment. Ask vendors to report results over the same period and on the same basis.
- Get operating terms in writing. Request pricing, implementation and support terms, data-retention details, call-recording controls and security documentation. The public product material reviewed does not provide a comparable price table or an independent head-to-head outcome study.
How much weight should you give vendor performance figures?
Published figures can help frame vendor claims, but they are not comparable evidence unless the vendors define the measurements, sample and time period on a consistent basis. The product pages cited here do not establish that consistency or provide independent head-to-head validation.

- Podium: Its undated service page, accessed in 2026, says Billingsley Hyundai had a 100% call answer rate and 15% more service appointments after switching to Podium. The page does not provide the measurement period or independent validation.
- Lineshift: Its undated vendor page, accessed in 2026, says it has handled more than one million automotive customer calls.
- Proactive Dealer Solutions: A press release hosted as a PDF by EIN Presswire says an average of 30% of inbound service calls never connect, attributing the figure to millions of calls monitored through its proprietary CallerCX platform. This is the vendor’s claim, not an independent industry-wide estimate.
Use these numbers as vendor-reported context, not as a basis for ranking products. In a pilot, ask vendors to define the denominator and time period for each metric and distinguish an answered call from a resolved request or a completed appointment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to make the shortlist
Start with the required outcome, then eliminate products that cannot demonstrate it in your own system setup. For direct inbound booking, compare Mia, Podium Service AI and AutoAce; add Lineshift if broader dealership call workflows are in scope. For missed-call capture and advisor handoff, evaluate Kimoby Voice with its current booking limitation in mind. Treat any final ranking as a dealership-specific decision: the public information does not establish a universal winner, comparable pricing or independent head-to-head results.
