Game Workers Unite Montreal says its Ubisoft Workers of Montreal campaign has collected more than 300 signatures for a petition asking Ubisoft Montreal to preserve hybrid work. The union reported the milestone on the petition’s second day, September 30, 2026; it says most signatures were gathered in person.
What the Ubisoft Workers of Montreal petition is asking for
Game Workers Unite Montreal publicly launched the Ubisoft Workers of Montreal (UWM) campaign on September 29, 2026, describing the petition as its first action. Its stated goal is to “preserve hybrid work,” and it invited Ubisoft Montreal employees to sign. The request is a campaign position, not an announced policy reversal or negotiated agreement.

How many signatures has the petition collected?
On September 30, the campaign said it had collected more than 300 signatures. The union said most were collected in person and encouraged employees to meet colleagues during break hours.
The count is the union’s reported petition total, not a survey result. The posts do not give a total workforce denominator or survey methodology, so they do not establish what share of Ubisoft Montreal employees signed or whether signatories represent all employees.

How the petition relates to Ubisoft’s return-to-office policy
Ubisoft announced in January 2026 that employees would work in the office five days a week, with an annual allowance of remote-work days. Game Developer’s contemporaneous report did not specify the number of remote-work days. Ubisoft’s reported rationale for the change was to encourage collaboration.

What is known about the campaign’s next steps?
The sources available through September 30, 2026, establish the campaign launch and the union’s reported signature milestone, but do not establish whether Ubisoft responded to the petition, whether the company changed its policy, or what outcome the campaign achieved.
Game Developer also reported a related dispute involving Montreal team lead David Michaud-Cromp and quoted Ubisoft saying that “sharing feedback or opinions respectfully does not lead to a dismissal.” The report also quoted Ubisoft describing its Code of Conduct and procedures for breaches. That episode is policy context; the available reporting does not show that the petition caused the employment action.
