Which IT brush should you use for liquid foundation?

There is no evidence here that one of these brushes performs best for every person or formula. Treat phrases such as “airbrush” as product naming or brand description, not a guarantee of a particular finish.
How to apply liquid foundation with a brush
Start with clean skin and a clean brush, then apply a small amount and add more only where needed. IT Cosmetics recommends building gradually rather than beginning with a heavy layer. The brand also notes that applying foundation with fingers and applying it with a brush are both valid methods; it does not present a brush as mandatory. - Use the large end to pick up a small amount of liquid foundation.
- Begin at the center of the face and blend outward in circular motions, following IT Cosmetics’ product instructions.
- Where you want more coverage, use a stippling motion and build gradually.
- Use the smaller end for concealer or detail work around smaller areas.
IT Cosmetics describes the technique this way: “Using the large end, begin at the center of your face and blend out CC+ Cream, or your favorite foundation, using circular motions.”

- Apply foundation to the areas of the face where you want it, rather than placing it directly onto the brush.
- Blend outward and evenly with light, fluid strokes, following the official IT Cosmetics answer on Ulta’s product page.
- Add a little more product only to areas that need additional coverage.
Keep the brush clean
IT Cosmetics says clean skin and clean application tools matter. For Brush #7, the brand’s care instructions say to wet only the brush hairs, swirl them in cleanser to create a lather, rinse, and blot away excess moisture.
