The linked Reddit post reproduces statements attributed to NateTheHate, including “As I said a while ago, Sony is looking to bring back some dormant franchises” and “Not Asobi.” Those are comments attributed to an online handle, not statements from Sony. See the linked Reddit post.
What is—and is not—known about the rumored game
- Confirmation: No Sony announcement is established by the report.
- Developer: The report says the rumored game would not be handled by Team Asobi, but does not name another studio.
- Bandai Namco: NateTheHate reportedly said, “Bamco is not involved, to my knowledge,” while adding that he would need to check further to be certain. This is a qualified, unverified insider comment—not a confirmed statement from Bandai Namco or Sony.
- Release details: The report provides no confirmed date, platform, or other project details.
Why Ape Escape is described as absent since PS3
Ape Escape debuted on PS1 in 1999. PlayStation LifeStyle identifies PlayStation Move Ape Escape, released in 2010 for PS3, as the series’ latest release. The series was developed by Japan Studio, which is now defunct. These franchise-history details explain the “since PS3” framing; they do not establish that a new installment is in development.

The report says PS4 and PS5 players can access classic Ape Escape games through the PS Plus Premium catalog or buy emulated classics separately on PlayStation Store. It does not establish which games are available in every country or confirm current catalog listings.
