Natus Vincere’s Drin “makazze” Shaqiri said the team was avoiding fixation on the Singapore Major qualification race because it could distract players and create pressure. Instead, NAVI was taking tournaments one at a time and trying to show its best Counter-Strike, he told HLTV on October 2, 2026.
Why makazze said NAVI was not focusing on the Major
Asked about NAVI’s qualification position, makazze said: “If you think about it, you cannot focus on the tournament, because you will have a lot of pressure.” He added: “So we are not looking into it, we are just playing for every tournament, trying our best.”
His point was about the team’s immediate focus: rather than make the Major the subject of every match, NAVI would concentrate on each event and its performance there. The remarks describe the team’s stated approach, not a guarantee of qualification.
NAVI’s qualification situation and recent results
In its October 2 interview coverage, HLTV reported that NAVI was 24th in the Europe VRS and had two tournaments left to earn enough points to qualify for the Singapore Major. That was the situation reported on the interview’s publication date, not a current ranking or a later qualification result. HLTV listed these recent placements and record:

The results show the stakes behind the question, but makazze’s comments did not attribute the team’s finishes to pressure or claim that changing its focus would resolve its results.
What NAVI worked on in practice
Makazze said the team had practiced from home for more than ten days. He described work on individual mistakes, including over-peeking, and said NAVI planned to continue using a seven-map pool. His account links the break between events to concrete preparation: reviewing individual errors while maintaining a broad map selection.

Makazze’s view of his own form
Makazze said he felt he was in better form than in recent tournaments. He also said taking time to enjoy life had refreshed his mind. This is his personal assessment, not an independent performance finding.
The interview’s accompanying HLTV player panel showed a dated snapshot for the past three months: Rating 3.0 of 1.03 across 18 maps, 0.67 kills per round (KPR), and 0.72 deaths per round (DPR). Those figures describe that panel’s October 2026 window; they should not be read as a current or season-long record.
