Is the Greatwork M8 currently under $900?
Not at the listings reviewed on October 3, 2026. Greatwork’s product page displayed $1,099, while Walmart’s marketplace listing displayed $1,198. Greatwork’s M8 listing and Walmart’s listing therefore do not substantiate a current price below $900. The Inventory article reported $899.99, but that figure was not independently confirmed as an available checkout offer. The Inventory’s deal article

Before buying, compare the final delivered price—not just the product-page figure—and confirm stock, shipping, tax, seller identity, assembly costs, and the applicable warranty and return terms. Greatwork advertises a one-year warranty and 15-day returns, but review the current terms and exclusions rather than assuming every purchase qualifies.
What does “5000W” mean on the M8?
Greatwork describes the M8 as having two 2,000W motors, each with a 2,500W peak rating, for 5,000W of combined peak output. That is a manufacturer-published specification, not an independent measurement. Peak output and a motor’s rated output are different figures; the headline number does not, by itself, tell you what power is sustained during ordinary riding.

These specifications are useful for identifying the listed configuration, but check the exact variant and its specification sheet with the seller before ordering.
What range and speed does Greatwork claim?
Greatwork lists a maximum speed of 45 mph, an electric-mode range of 40–60 miles, and a pedal-assist range of 60–100 miles. These are manufacturer claims, not independently verified results. Actual range and speed can vary with rider and cargo weight, terrain, weather, battery condition, assist setting, and riding style; the available listings do not provide a controlled road test or enough detail to predict a particular rider’s results.

Greatwork lists charging time as 8–9 hours. Treat that as the manufacturer’s estimate for the listed battery, not a guaranteed time under every charging condition.
Check the M8’s configuration, weight, and fit
Greatwork’s specifications call the M8 a “Dual Drive Hardtail MTB” and list front suspension. Its promotional copy also refers to full suspension, so the available descriptions conflict. Confirm the actual suspension configuration for the exact model and variant before purchase instead of relying on the promotional wording.

Walmart’s listing gives a weight of 92 lb (41.4 kg) and a maximum load of 300 lb. Those figures are listing-specific and may vary by version; verify them with the seller. A bike at that listed weight can be difficult to lift onto a rack or carry up stairs, so consider storage, transport, and whether you can manage it without assistance.

Greatwork advertises the M8 as UL 2849 certified, but its retrieved product page did not show a model-specific UL Product iQ record or certification number. Treat certification as a manufacturer claim until you can match the exact bike to a record. UL Solutions explains that certification of a complete e-bike as a micromobility device is distinct from certification of only its battery, motor, or charger; buyers can check status through UL Product iQ guidance from UL Solutions.

The safety stakes are not specific to the M8: UL Solutions says, “In 2021 and 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received reports from 39 states detailing at least 208 fires for overheating events that caused a reported 19 fatalities.” These figures concern reported micromobility overheating events broadly, not M8 incidents.
The advertised 45 mph top speed makes riding location and local rules especially important. No jurisdiction is specified here, so the M8 cannot be assigned a universal e-bike class or described as legal for every road, path, or trail. Check the rules where you intend to ride, along with any access restrictions. Greatwork also advises wearing a helmet and checking brakes, tires, battery, and fasteners before riding.
