What is the series about?
Set thousands of years in the future, the story begins after an interstellar battle leaves the starship Andromeda at the edge of a black hole. Captain Dylan Hunt has been frozen in time for 300 years. When he awakens, the Systems Commonwealth he served has fallen, and he joins an unlikely crew in an effort to restore peace and civilization.
The premise puts a familiar space-opera mission—a captain trying to unite a fractured galaxy—inside a distinctly disorienting setup: Hunt has survived the old order, but everyone and everything around him has moved on. The crew’s task is not simply to resume their former lives; it is to rebuild a political community that no longer exists.

Who stars in Andromeda, and when did it air?
Kevin Sorbo stars as Captain Dylan Hunt. Rotten Tomatoes’ cast and crew listing dates the series to 2000–2005 and gives its premiere date as October 2, 2000. Its 26th anniversary therefore fell on October 2, 2026.
