What’s new in PS5 update 26.06-14.10.00?
PSX Brasil reported on October 2, 2026, that Sony had made version 26.06-14.10.00 available. The report reproduced two patch-note items attributed to Sony:
- “We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.”
- “We’ve improved system software performance and stability.”
Those are the full publicly described changes identified in the report. It does not give a technical changelog, name affected security components, list CVE identifiers, quantify performance changes, or confirm a new feature. In particular, the available notes do not establish that the update fixes a particular exploit or jailbreak.
The version-specific notes are reported by PSX Brasil. Sony’s general PS5 system software support page provides update instructions, but does not provide a version-specific entry for this release in the information available here.

How to check for and install the update
Use the PS5’s online update option
- Open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- Select Update System Software if an update is available, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Sony recommends installing the latest system software promptly. Its support notice says updates include security updates and warns that falling behind might expose a console to security risks or affect proper functioning.
Install from USB if the online update fails
Sony’s manual method uses a PC or Mac and a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Download the official update file from PlayStation Support, put it in the required PS5/UPDATE folder using Sony’s specified filename, then start the console in Safe Mode and choose the USB update option. Follow the current instructions on Sony’s support page exactly; do not use update files from unofficial sources or undocumented installation methods.

A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
Avoid interrupting installation
Sony warns against installing just before or after a power outage and against turning off the console during installation. Interrupting the process can damage the system software. If you need the USB method, use Sony’s official instructions and update file.

The published description does not say which security issues were addressed or provide test results showing how performance or stability changed. There is also no supported update-size figure or confirmed feature addition in the version-specific reporting. Treat the release as a maintenance update based on its two broad patch-note statements, rather than assuming a particular fix or change beyond them.
