The list includes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and A Plague Tale: Requiem. The “nightmare” framing is the publication’s judgment—not an announced price change or a confirmed view shared by all subscribers. The Xbox Wire announcements cited here do not independently confirm the October 15 departures, so check the current Xbox listing before relying on the date or availability for your plan and region.
Which games are reportedly leaving Game Pass on October 15?
Tyler Fischer’s October 2, 2026, ComicBook.com report names these eight games as scheduled to leave the library on October 15:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Crime Scene Cleaner
- Nova Roma
- The Casting of Frank Stone
- Donut County
- Pacific Drive
- Evil West
Those titles and the October 15 date are reported by ComicBook.com. The Xbox Wire posts cited in this article cover nearby lineup announcements, but do not independently confirm this departure list. Check the current Game Pass catalog or leaving-soon notice for the date and the platforms, plans, and regions that apply to you.
Why is the update being called a “nightmare”?
ComicBook.com argues that the departures are unusually painful because it considers several of the outgoing games more notable than the October arrivals it discusses. That is an editorial assessment, not a measured ranking of game quality or subscriber opinion.

Two prominent games in the reported list
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: ComicBook.com describes it as the 2025 Game of the Year winner and a defining RPG. Those characterizations are the publication’s; they are not an independent evaluation here.
- A Plague Tale: Requiem: The report calls it a 2022 Game of the Year contender.
Other titles the report singles out
- Crime Scene Cleaner: ComicBook.com says it had previously been among the most-played Xbox Game Pass games; the report does not provide a quantitative measure in this account.
- Nova Roma: The article says it is leaving before exiting Game Preview.
- The Casting of Frank Stone: The report notes its horror genre and argues that its reported removal is poorly timed near Halloween.
- Donut County, Pacific Drive, and Evil West: ComicBook.com also describes these as notable departures.
What is coming to Game Pass in October?
ComicBook.com said nine releases were scheduled for October as of its October 2 report and argued that the arrivals would not make up for the reported exits. That is the reporter’s comparison; there is no representative measure here of how subscribers value the different games, genres, or access options.
One nearby arrival has an official Xbox Wire schedule: Gears of War: E-Day was listed for October 6 on Xbox Series X|S, handheld, PC, and cloud, with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass named. Xbox Wire also listed Keeper for October 2 on Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass. These are schedule details in the September 15 Xbox Wire announcement; they do not verify the October 15 departure list.

How do the reported exits compare with the arrivals?
There is no single quality scale that can settle whether this lineup is a bad trade for a particular subscriber. The useful comparison is personal: which games you expect to play, what genres you prefer, and whether the titles are accessible on your plan and platform.
- If you want to play an outgoing game: Check its current leaving-soon date in your own catalog, then prioritize it if the listing confirms it is leaving. The report alone does not establish how much time remains for a specific account or region.
- If you are weighing the arrivals: Check the official listing for the plan and device you use. The October 6 Gears of War: E-Day schedule is confirmed in Xbox Wire’s September announcement, but an announced schedule is not a substitute for checking current availability.
- If genre matters most: Compare the specific experiences you want rather than treating a count of arrivals and exits as a value score. The reporting highlights RPGs, horror, and other genres, but does not measure how well the slate matches subscribers’ tastes.
Is this a Game Pass price change?
No price change is documented in the cited October 2 article. Its “update” refers to the reported catalog departures. ComicBook.com quotes subscribers reacting with “Good lord, there is no way the quality coming in is gonna be able to replace this”; “These are huge losses!”; and “They should honestly drop the prices for Game Pass again. Selection has been pathetic.” These are selected comments quoted by the publication, not evidence of a universal subscriber view. The underlying Reddit thread was not separately verified for this article.

What do the official Xbox announcements confirm?
Xbox Wire’s September 15 post confirms the October 6 Gears of War: E-Day schedule and lists eight games departing September 30, including Atomfall, Sifu, and Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition. Its September 15 lineup announcement documents that schedule, not the October 15 exits.
An earlier September 1 Xbox Wire post listed ten departures scheduled for September 15 and several September additions. Together, these posts show dated lineup announcements around the period in question; neither confirms that the eight games in ComicBook.com’s report were set to leave on October 15.
