A Dell planning document reportedly mapped Intel and Qualcomm processors across future XPS laptops, but it was a leak—not a launch announcement. AMD’s projected laptop chips came from a separate, unofficial roadmap attributed to another manufacturer. The clearest takeaway is that Dell has publicly described a broader Intel, AMD and Qualcomm strategy, while the specific XPS models and timing in the leaks remain unconfirmed.

What the leaked Dell roadmap said

Tom’s Hardware reported in late 2023 that documents accidentally exposed on a public download server outlined XPS production planning from 2023 to 2027. The document projected a sequence of Intel processor integrations, along with Qualcomm options for future XPS 13 and XPS 14 successors. Dell did not announce these schedules as firm launch dates, and the original report cautioned that targets could change.

Projected window Processor or option Planned XPS association Segment and AI/NPU detail Evidence and confidence
Q4 2024 Intel Lunar Lake-MX XPS 13 (Tributo R) was described with Lunar Lake-MX and Snapdragon X Elite variants. Premium XPS; AI/NPU capability not stated in the roadmap account. Third-party report of a leaked Dell plan, published in late 2023; not a confirmed launch.
Q1 2025 Intel Arrow Lake-H Projected for XPS 14 (Pista) and XPS 16 (Diablo). Premium XPS; AI/NPU capability not stated in the roadmap account. Third-party report of a leaked Dell plan, published in late 2023; not a confirmed launch.
2025, no quarter specified Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Listed as an option for XPS 13 (Tributo R). Premium XPS; AI/NPU capability not stated in the roadmap account. Third-party report of a leaked Dell plan, published in late 2023; no specific launch window stated.
Q1 2026 Intel Panther Lake-H Projected for XPS 16 (Diablo) and the 14-inch XPS successor Huracan. Premium XPS; AI/NPU capability not stated in the roadmap account. Third-party report of a leaked Dell plan, published in late 2023; not a confirmed launch.
2026, no quarter specified Qualcomm Snapdragon with Oryon V2 cores Projected as an option for the 14-inch Huracan and XPS 13 successor Divo. Divo was also listed with Lunar Lake. Premium XPS; AI/NPU capability not stated in the roadmap account. Third-party report of a leaked Dell plan, published in late 2023; not a confirmed launch.
2027 Intel Nova Lake Projected for XPS 14 and XPS 13 successor plans. Premium XPS; AI/NPU capability not stated in the roadmap account. Third-party report of a leaked Dell plan, published in late 2023; not a confirmed launch.

The model codenames—Tributo R, Diablo, Pista, Huracan and Divo—are names reported in the leaked planning material, not proof that Dell released or will release retail laptops under those names. The account also projected that Pista would pair Arrow Lake-H with next-generation Nvidia graphics before the 14-inch Huracan replaced it in 2026 with Panther Lake-H and a Qualcomm option.

Where AMD fits—and what is not a Dell CPU plan

The AMD names in the available reporting came from a different, unofficial roadmap attributed to a Spain-based laptop maker and reported in August 2025. It was not identified as a Dell document or an official AMD roadmap. Its projections should not be presented as confirmed Dell configurations.

2027 Medusa Point and Medusa Baby Premium and mainstream systems. Not stated in the account of the slide. Unofficial third-party roadmap reported in August 2025; not an AMD or Dell confirmation.

So, “AMD Medusa for laptops” refers here to reported 2027 processor families aimed at premium and mainstream systems. The cited reporting does not establish Dell models using them, detailed specifications, or confirmed release dates.

How the timing compares with a later leak

Tom’s Guide reported a separate leak in May 2025 from an unknown laptop manufacturer. It placed Intel Core Ultra 300, also called Panther Lake, and AMD Medusa processors around Q2 2026, with Intel Core Ultra 400, or Nova Lake, in 2027. The report also mentioned rumors of Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 competition. This broadly points in the same 2026/2027 direction as the earlier Dell planning document, but it does not verify Dell’s models, configurations or schedule.

Because the original Dell document projected Panther Lake-H for Q1 2026 and the later leak suggested Panther Lake around Q2 2026, neither window should be read as proof that a particular XPS laptop launched then. As of October 2026, those projected windows have passed; the material summarized here does not establish whether Dell met them.

What Dell has officially said about Intel, AMD and Qualcomm

Dell’s January 2025 newsroom release described a redesigned PC portfolio that added AMD options, continued Qualcomm offerings and expanded Intel systems. In that release, Pat Moorhead, president of Moor Insights & Strategy, said: “Alongside new silicon options from AMD, in addition to Intel and Qualcomm, and new PC designs, Dell is well positioned to offer choice and help organizations futureproof for the AI era.”

That is evidence of Dell’s public multi-vendor positioning, not confirmation of the leaked XPS timetable. It supports the broad expectation that Dell will offer systems using more than one processor vendor, but it does not validate any specific codename, model or future configuration.

Should you wait for the next Dell XPS CPU generation?

Use the leak as a sign of possible product direction, not as a buying calendar. The named future XPS configurations and their launch timing remain unconfirmed in the reporting summarized here. If you need a laptop now, compare the Dell configurations actually listed for sale against your workload, budget and required software. If your current computer is adequate and you specifically want to wait for a particular processor generation, wait for Dell to announce an actual product and configuration rather than relying on the roadmap’s projected quarter.
