Tektronix’s extreme-temperature (ET) tips let an IsoVu TICP current-probe setup measure a device inside an environmental chamber while the probe and oscilloscope stay outside. The tips operate from -40°C to +125°C; the three models differ mainly in attenuation and differential-voltage input range.
What the Tektronix ET current-probe tip does
The ET tips are optional accessories for Tektronix IsoVu TICP isolated-current-probe systems. A tip cable reaches into the environmental chamber to connect at the device under test (DUT), while the IsoVu probe and Tektronix oscilloscope remain outside. This arrangement supports current measurements during temperature validation without placing the probe head inside the chamber.
Tektronix describes IsoVu probes as galvanically isolated and intended for high-speed measurements, including in wide-bandgap power electronics such as silicon-carbide (SiC) and gallium-nitride (GaN) converters. Applications identified for the ET setup include EV power systems, aerospace and defense electronics, and satellite systems.
ET models and how to choose attenuation
Choose the tip attenuation according to the differential-voltage input range needed by the measurement. The three models share the same published temperature envelope; the input range is the key stated distinction.

- Solderable probe tips
| Model | Attenuation | Differential-voltage input range | Connector |
|---|---|---|---|
| TICPMM1ET | 1X | ±0.5 V | MMCX |
| TICPMM10ET | 10X | ±5 V | MMCX |
| TICPMM100ET | 100X | ±50 V | MMCX |
Use the lowest attenuation that accommodates the expected differential-voltage input. If the voltage range is uncertain, verify the DUT signal and system requirements with Tektronix before ordering; a different attenuation changes the supported input range.
Temperature, cable reach and bandwidth
- Operating temperature: -40°C to +125°C for the ET tips.
- Storage temperature: -40°C to +85°C.
- Optional cable reach: 6 feet (1.8 m), according to Tektronix.
- Advertised bandwidth performance: up to 700 MHz, according to Tektronix.
The operating limit applies to the tip accessory; do not treat it as a temperature rating for the complete probe or oscilloscope. Confirm the permitted conditions for every component in the measurement setup.

- ROBUST CONSTRUCTION: T&T Tools Replacement Tips for Smart Stick or Mighty Probe are constructed from high-strength alloy steel and are heat-treated for added durability. These robust tips ensure lasting performance in various soil conditions, making them ideal for repeated use in demanding tasks.
- STANDARD TIP DESIGN: The standard tips feature tapered edges for smooth penetration and withdrawal from the ground. Designed slightly larger than the shaft, they create a clearance hole that prevents the rod from dragging, making efficient soil probing and minimizing resistance.
- SIZE COMPATIBILITY: Specifically designed for 3/8" metal rods, these replacement tips are compatible with both 3/8" round rods and 3/8" hex rods. This precise fit makes stability and optimal performance, making them a reliable choice for a range of soil probing applications.
- MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS: These replacement tips are perfect for use with T&T Tools' Mighty Probe and Smart Stick. Essential for locating septic tanks, underground pipes, and more, they are invaluable tools for professionals in the wastewater industry, plumbing, landscaping, and gardening tasks.
- RELIABLE DIGGING TOOLS: The insulated Mighty Probe includes an isolator to protect operator from electrical shocks while maintaining the benefits of a steel rod.The Smart Stick is a sturdy soil probe designed to help locate pipes or septic tanks before digging, making precise and accurate excavation.
How to set up a chamber measurement
- Confirm that the ET tip model’s attenuation and differential-voltage range suit the measurement, and check compatibility with the IsoVu TICP probe and oscilloscope.
- Connect the MMCX tip connection at the chamber-side DUT and route the cable through the chamber access port, keeping the IsoVu probe and oscilloscope outside.
- Position the intended extreme-temperature working zone at least 13 inches (330.2 mm) from the probe head. Tektronix recommends this minimum distance to reduce temperature leakage effects through the chamber port.
- Operate the tip only within its stated -40°C to +125°C range, and confirm the complete setup’s limits before running the test.
The 6-foot (1.8 m) cable option can help provide reach between the DUT and probe head, but the chamber layout and access port still determine whether the arrangement will work in a particular installation.
