ZombieInfection brings an escalating outbreak to GTA 5: zombies appear among pedestrians, and contact can turn other city-dwellers into more of the undead. In PC Gamer’s October 2, 2026 feature, the small encounters quickly became a Los Santos-sized mess—though cars, fire and the city’s other hazards could still take zombies down.
What happens when zombies spread through Los Santos?
ZombieInfection is the mod featured in PC Gamer’s October 2, 2026 account of adding zombies to GTA 5. Rather than simply placing a fixed group of enemies in one spot, it puts zombies among ordinary pedestrians and lets contact spread the infection. A brief encounter can therefore grow into a larger horde as more city-dwellers turn.
The outbreak does not make zombies invincible. In the described play session, they were relatively slow and remained vulnerable to hazards including cars and fire. The player character could also die after prolonged contact, so getting surrounded was a real threat even if the zombies were not especially fast. These are observations from that installation and session, not a systematic compatibility or performance test.

How do you add zombies to GTA 5?
The feature identifies the mod as ZombieInfection and says the author installed it in GTA 5, but it does not give a version number, a complete installation walkthrough or a requirements list. That means it can answer what the mod is and what its outbreak is like, but not provide reliable step-by-step installation instructions for every current game setup.
Before installing any GTA 5 mod, check its current page for the files, dependencies and supported game build. Do not assume an older description or another player’s report proves that the mod works with your copy today. The available mod pages and comments show that files and reported behavior can change over time.

Is this the same as GTA Online’s Halloween zombie content?
No. ZombieInfection is a PC single-player mod; it is distinct from Rockstar’s timed GTA Online challenges. Rockstar Support’s article, last updated October 6, 2025, said players could earn the Brown Vintage Zombie Mask by surviving two waves in a Survival without dying during the October 2–8, 2025 challenge window. That is historical 2025 reward information, not a schedule or reward claim for 2026.
