ThinkComputers reports the flagship as a 28-core chip with 8 P-cores, 16 E-cores and 4 LPE cores, plus a 125W rating and 32-EU integrated graphics. Intel has not confirmed the model or these specifications, and a second report contains a conflicting core total.
What is the Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC?
It is an unconfirmed processor name in reports about Intel’s purported Nova Lake-S desktop lineup. ThinkComputers’ October 2, 2026 report describes it as the flagship of seven leaked models. Intel’s cited desktop processor collection, last reviewed March 11, 2026, lists Series 2 Arrow Lake and earlier desktop families, but not Nova Lake-S or the 4970K BFC. That catalog does not verify the leak; it also cannot establish whether Intel will announce such a chip later.
How many cores does the leaked flagship have?
ThinkComputers gives the 4970K BFC 28 cores: 8 performance cores (P-cores), 16 efficient cores (E-cores) and 4 low-power efficient cores (LPE cores). Tom’s Hardware’s table shows the same 8+16+4 breakdown but labels the total as 24. Those components add up to 28, so the reports conflict on the stated total. Treat 28 as ThinkComputers’ reported figure, not a confirmed Intel specification. Neither report establishes benchmark performance.
What does the leaked lineup list?
The following configurations and ratings come from ThinkComputers’ account of the leak. They are all unverified, and Tom’s Hardware reports different core counts for several models. The cache wording reflects the reports’ BFC association; neither source establishes an exact cache amount for each model.

| Alleged model | Reported core breakdown | Reported rating | Integrated graphics listed | Cache label in report |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC | 28 (8P + 16E + 4LPE) | 125W | 32 EUs | bLLC/BFC association |
| Core Ultra 9 4950K | 24 (8P + 16E) | 125W | 32 EUs | No BFC |
| Core Ultra 9 4900 BFC | 22 (6P + 12E + 4LPE) | 65W | 32 EUs | bLLC/BFC association |
| Core Ultra 7 4870K BFC | 24 (8P + 12E + 4LPE) | 125W | 32 EUs | bLLC/BFC association |
| Core Ultra 7 4850K | 20 (8P + 12E) | 125W | 32 EUs | No BFC |
| Core Ultra 5 4650K | 18 (6P + 12E) | 125W | 32 EUs | No BFC |
| Core Ultra 5 4650KF | 18 (6P + 12E) | 125W | None listed | No BFC |
Tom’s Hardware also lists seven models, but its table gives a 24-core total for the 4970K BFC despite displaying 8+16+4, and its counts differ from ThinkComputers’ for several other chips. ThinkComputers explicitly notes that leaked tables disagree. The table above is therefore one report’s version of the lineup, not a settled product specification.
What does BFC mean?
Reports associate the BFC suffix, which appears on three alleged models, with a larger last-level cache. Tom’s Hardware says earlier rumors used the label bLLC (“big last-level cache”), while BFC is a newly reported label whose official meaning is unknown. ThinkComputers mentions claims of up to 144 MB in some accounts, but says per-chip cache amounts and the suffix’s official meaning have not been established. The 4970K BFC’s cache size—and what the “F” stands for—should not be treated as confirmed.

When might Nova Lake-S launch?
ThinkComputers describes early 2027 as a reported expectation for initial single-tile processors, not a confirmed launch schedule. Tom’s Hardware reports that Intel 900-series chipsets and some Nova Lake platform components appear in PCI-SIG or USB-IF compliance listings, while cautioning that an unidentified processor on a listing cannot be identified with certainty. Such listings may indicate platform preparation; they do not confirm these seven retail names, specifications, socket, motherboard compatibility, pricing, performance or ship date.
