What is the new name for Paramount and Warner Bros.?
David Ellison announced on October 2 that the combined company would be called Skydance. Paramount’s investor FAQ says the company intends to amend its certificate of incorporation to become Skydance Corporation. The announcement concerns the corporate parent; it does not establish a change to the names of its entertainment services or brands.

Paramount’s filing lists businesses and brands including Paramount Pictures, CBS, Nickelodeon, Paramount+, and Pluto TV. Warner Bros. Discovery’s portfolio includes Warner Bros., HBO Max, CNN, DC, and Warner Bros. Games. Why is the combined company called Skydance?
Ellison said the name gives the combined company its own identity while allowing the Paramount and Warner Bros. brands to remain prominent. Axios reported that Skydance was the name of Ellison’s production company, which merged with Paramount the prior year. The explanation is Ellison’s stated rationale, not an independent assessment of the name’s branding impact. Axios’s October 2, 2026 report

When does the Skydance name take effect?
Paramount’s investor FAQ expected the corporate name change to take effect on October 6, 2026, in connection with the anticipated merger closing. As of October 3, both remained prospective: the FAQ and the company’s SEC filing described the closing as expected and subject to customary closing conditions. What had been cleared, and what remained conditional?
A federal judge approved Paramount’s settlement with 12 states on September 30, clearing a legal hurdle. That approval did not mean the merger had closed: the companies still described October 6 as an expected date, subject to customary closing conditions. What other changes were planned?
Paramount’s investor FAQ also associated the anticipated closing with a planned change of the Class B stock ticker from PSKY to SKYD and a transfer of its listing to the New York Stock Exchange. As of October 3, those actions were planned, not completed.
