Parallels Access is no longer available or usable. Parallels discontinued it on March 5, 2024, ended support for existing subscriptions after April 30, 2024, and said the app would stop functioning in every environment after that date. This review explains what the iPad app did, why it cannot be purchased or used now, and what to consider when choosing a supported replacement.
Is Parallels Access still available for iPad?
No. Parallels’ End of Sales and End of Life announcement states: “Parallels Access is discontinued as of March 5, 2024, and will no longer be available for purchase or renewal after this date.” Existing subscriptions were supported until April 30, 2024; the same notice says the application would no longer be usable in any environment after that date. Parallels’ end-of-life policy lists Access among products that no longer receive sales, patches, updates, or technical support.
That makes this a historical review, not a recommendation to buy or install Parallels Access. A listing or old installation file does not restore the discontinued service.
What did Parallels Access for iPad do?
Parallels Access let an iPad, iPhone, or Android device remotely connect to a separately running Mac or Windows PC and operate its applications. It did not run Windows natively on the iPad. The computer acted as the host, while the mobile device provided remote access to its desktop and software.

The Parallels Access user guide documented remote start, stop, and reset controls for Windows, as well as access over Wi‑Fi or 3G. The host computer had to remain powered on and reachable for remote access; the guide specifically notes that the Mac had to be on. Those are descriptions of the product’s former operation, not capabilities available today.
What happened to Parallels Access?
Parallels announced the end of sales and renewals effective March 5, 2024. Existing subscribers could continue receiving support through April 30, 2024, after which the company said the application would cease functioning on all platforms and in all environments. The product is now outside its support lifecycle, so it should not be treated as a viable remote-access option.

How to choose a replacement for Parallels Access
There is no supported Parallels Access plan to renew. Choose a currently maintained remote-access service based on how you will connect and what you need to control. Before committing, verify these points on the provider’s current product and support pages:
- Availability and support: Confirm the service is actively sold, receives updates, and supports your iPadOS version.
- Host compatibility: Check whether it can connect to the Mac, Windows PC, or both that you need to access.
- Setup and accounts: Find out whether the host needs an installed app, an account, an always-running background service, or administrator setup.
- iPad controls: Test touch gestures, keyboard shortcuts, pointer support, and Apple Pencil behavior if those matter to your work.
- Network performance: Look for reliable use on both local Wi‑Fi and cellular connections; performance depends on the network and host as well as the app.
- Security: Review authentication options and how access is granted, especially if the host contains work or personal data.
- Capacity and cost: Compare supported computers or users and the recurring price for the plan you actually need.
An independent remote desktop software roundup describes Access’s former mobile-oriented approach and reports a five-machine limit for its personal plan, with higher capacity for business users. That is historical context, not a current Access offer. Treat any replacement comparison as a fresh decision based on the alternatives’ present terms and device behavior.

Is Parallels DaaS the replacement?
Not necessarily. Parallels announced Parallels DaaS on January 30, 2024 as a business service for delivering desktops and applications, with browser access from internet-connected devices. Its announcement listed worldwide availability and a starting price of $9 per named user per month at that time; current availability, geography, and terms should be checked with Parallels. DaaS is not established as a one-to-one consumer replacement for Access, so it may not fit someone who simply wants to control a home Mac or PC from an iPad.
Parallels also said that 78% planned to adopt a DaaS solution by 2025, based on its 2024 survey of leading IT professionals. This is the company’s survey claim about that group, not a finding about all organizations or individual iPad users.
