Ubisoft has renamed Creative House 2 as Massive Entertainment, bringing teams responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and new IP including March of Giants under one shared identity. This does not create a new company or a newly founded studio: Ubisoft says the brand remains part of Ubisoft, which will continue to publish and distribute its games. The name also has a history: Massive’s Swedish studio began in 1997 and joined Ubisoft in 2008.
What Ubisoft announced
Creative House 2 is now called Massive Entertainment. Ubisoft describes the change as a shared global identity for development teams and their portfolio, not as a merger into a separate company. The announcement names The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and original IP including March of Giants as part of that portfolio. Ubisoft’s announcement says the teams will bring creative and technology expertise together.
Christoph Hartmann is identified in the announcement as General Manager of Massive Entertainment. He said the shared identity offers an opportunity to combine expertise across Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto. The announcement does not map individual franchises or teams to specific cities.
Is Massive Entertainment a new studio?
No. The change applies the Massive Entertainment identity to Creative House 2 and its teams; it does not mean the original Massive studio has just been created. Massive’s official history says the Swedish studio began in 1997 and joined Ubisoft in 2008. It is based in Sweden, with studios in Malmö and Stockholm.

- Incredible real movement and control - you can even shift Sam's weight when preparing him for a split jump between two walls
- Exciting new moves maximize Sam's lethal fighting skills -- spin out of the shadows and kill silently
- All-new moves and levels - fight in jungles, on rooftops, on top of(and under) a moving train
- Advanced AI makes it harder than ever to get past enemies - if you reveal yourself they'll get reinforcements and put on armor
- Weapons now have secondary functions that can be equipped on the fly - be amazed at the advantage you get from the red dot of the laser sight
The studio’s earlier history includes Ground Control, its first game, released in 2000, and later projects such as The Division (2016), The Division 2 (2018), Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (2023) and Star Wars Outlaws (August 2024). The new announcement extends the name to teams working across several Ubisoft locations; it is not a claim that all those games were developed by one location or team.
Which franchises and locations are included?
| What changes | What Ubisoft says |
|---|---|
| Shared identity | Creative House 2 is named Massive Entertainment. |
| Named portfolio | The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and new IP including March of Giants. |
| Team locations | Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto; the announcement does not assign a franchise to a particular city. |
| Corporate and publishing role | Massive remains part of Ubisoft, and Ubisoft says it will publish and distribute games developed under the brand. |
The franchise references span different genres and histories: Ubisoft dates Ghost Recon to 2001 and describes it as a tactical-shooter series, while its Splinter Cell page dates that stealth-shooter series to 2002. Ubisoft’s franchise page says Ubisoft Paris leads Ghost Recon; that fact does not establish that the franchise is moving to Sweden or that one city now owns its development.

What the reorganization does—and does not—mean for players
It does not confirm a new game or release date
Ubisoft has not provided project-specific staffing changes, release dates or concrete development plans for a particular new game in this announcement. Including a franchise under the shared identity is not confirmation that a new entry is in development, nor does it establish that an unannounced project has accelerated.
It does not move every franchise to Sweden
The announced teams span Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto. Ubisoft has not published a franchise-by-franchise location map, so claims that Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell is now handled exclusively in Sweden go beyond what the announcement establishes.

Ubisoft remains the publisher
Ubisoft says it remains the parent company and will continue publishing and distributing games developed under the Massive Entertainment brand. The announcement also says existing commitments to players and partners do not change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why Ubisoft is using one identity
Ubisoft presents the shared name as a way to combine teams’ creative and technology expertise across four locations and work on established franchises as well as new games and IP. That explains the stated purpose of the reorganization, but the announcement does not give project-level details that would show how responsibilities or staffing will change in practice.
