LiveOak Ventures led the round, with Tau Ventures and Dauntless Ventures participating.
What is Spektion?
Spektion is an enterprise cybersecurity company founded by Joe Silva, Josh Skorich, and Julien Maladrie. Silva is CEO, Skorich is CTO, and Maladrie leads research and development. The founders’ published backgrounds include senior security roles at Jones Lang LaSalle and TransUnion, founding the Dolos Group, and work at Symantec and the European Commission.
The company’s software is designed to continuously analyze an organization’s software inventory and help security teams identify and prioritize vulnerabilities and other software risks. Spektion describes its approach as runtime vulnerability management: it uses runtime data and software-behavior analytics to assess how software behaves in a customer’s environment, rather than relying only on conventional vulnerability and patch workflows. Spektion’s announcement and its runtime intelligence white paper explain the company’s positioning.
How does runtime vulnerability management differ from CVE-based scanning?
Conventional vulnerability management commonly centers on known vulnerabilities cataloged as CVEs and the availability of patches or other prescribed fixes. Spektion says its analysis of runtime data and software behavior can surface risks that are not captured by that process alone, including issues that may not yet have a CVE or an available patch.

- If you want to build a better future, you must believe in secrets.
- The great secret of our time is that there are still uncharted frontiers to explore and new inventions to create. In Zero to One, legendary entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel shows how we can find singular ways to create those new things.
That distinction describes the product’s intended coverage, not independently demonstrated superiority. The available company announcement and SecurityWeek’s report do not publish independent efficacy tests, customer-performance metrics, or comparative results against established vulnerability-management products.
What does Spektion say its platform does?
- Analyzes software continuously: Spektion says it uses runtime information to maintain visibility into software as it operates in an organization’s environment.
- Looks beyond known CVEs and patches: Its stated goal is to identify software risks that standard CVE-centered and patch-based workflows may miss.
- Prioritizes mitigation: The company positions behavior and environment context as a way to help teams decide which risks to address.
- Connects with other security tools: SecurityWeek reports that the platform offers integrations with other security tools and is designed to require minimal deployment overhead. Public reporting does not provide deployment measurements or a full integration list.
These are descriptions of the product and its intended benefits, not independently verified outcome claims. No customer count, revenue, market-size estimate, valuation, or measured risk-reduction figure was reported in the cited sources.

Who funded Spektion?
Spektion announced a $5 million seed round on April 8, 2025. LiveOak Ventures led the financing, and Tau Ventures and Dauntless Ventures participated. The amount and investors were also reported by SecurityWeek.
LiveOak Ventures Partner Creighton Hicks described the goal as continuously “purple team[ing]” software to keep risk visibility and defenses aligned with changing threats. Spektion CEO Joe Silva told SecurityWeek that the company was founded to address what he considers an ineffective, reactive approach to vulnerability management. These statements explain the investors’ and company’s rationale; they are not performance findings.

Is Spektion available?
Yes. In its April 8, 2025 announcement, Spektion said its purpose-built vulnerability-management solution was generally available. That establishes the company’s announced availability, but the cited sources do not specify public pricing, purchasing steps, eligibility requirements, or a self-service sign-up process. Organizations considering the product would need to contact Spektion for current commercial and deployment details.

The public announcement establishes that Spektion launched its platform and raised seed funding. Its published materials describe a runtime-focused approach intended to broaden software-risk visibility beyond traditional CVE and patch workflows. However, the cited reporting does not establish how well the product performs in customer environments or whether it reduces risk more effectively than existing tools.
