It pairs a redesigned pump and impeller with liquid-temperature sensing and installation changes. Asetek presents it as a post-patent-generation design; HotHardware reported that an earlier Asetek closed-loop cooling patent expired on May 6, 2025.
What is Asetek Ingrid?
Ingrid is a platform architecture that Asetek offers in Value and Mainstream variants. Rather than describing one specific retail cooler, the name covers cooling technology that hardware partners can incorporate into their own products. Asetek’s May 2025 announcement introduced it as a foundation for B2B customers, OEM partners and PC enthusiasts.
Asetek CEO and founder André Sloth Eriksen described the launch as “a platform-based approach” and “a foundation we’ll continue to expand.” The distinction matters: a cooler using Ingrid may have partner-specific radiator, fan, lighting, display, routing and control features. The platform name alone does not establish the capabilities of every finished product.
What changed when the earlier AIO patent expired?
HotHardware reported that Asetek’s older closed-loop cooling patent expired on May 6, 2025. That date is the report’s account of the patent’s expiry, not a legal assessment of the rights affecting every AIO cooler or manufacturer. The expiry is relevant context for Ingrid’s introduction, but it does not by itself show that every competing design is now legally unrestricted.

- CONTACT FRAME FOR INTEL LGA1851 | LGA1700: Optimized contact pressure distribution for longer CPU life and better heat dissipation
- ARCTIC's P12 PRO FAN: More power at any speed - more powerful and quieter than the P12, especially at low speeds. Higher maximum speed for optimal cooling performance under high load
- NATIVE OFFSET MOUNTING FOR INTEL AND AMD: Shifting the cold plate center towards the CPU hotspot ensures more efficient heat transfer
- INTEGRATED VRM FAN: PWM-controlled fan that lowers the temperature of the voltage converters and thus ensures reliable performance
- INTEGRATED CABLE MANAGEMENT: The PWM cables of the radiator fans are integrated in the sheathing of the hoses so that only a single visible cable is connected to the motherboard
Asetek’s announcement presents Ingrid as a differentiated, patent-pending architecture for the next generation of its cooling platform. In particular, the company points to a newly engineered pump and impeller assembly and an integrated coolant-temperature sensor. Those are Asetek’s design descriptions; the announcement does not establish how the patent expiry affects other companies’ products.
How does Ingrid differ from earlier Asetek designs?
Pump and impeller
Asetek says the redesigned assembly is intended to improve balance and reduce vibration, coil whine and high-pitched resonance. These are design and acoustic claims from the company, not independently verified comparative findings in the cited material.

- Simple, High-Performance All-in-One CPU Cooling: Renowned CORSAIR engineering delivers strong, low-noise cooling that helps your CPU reach its full potential
- Efficient, Low-Noise Pump: Keeps your coolant circulating at a high flow rate while generating a whisper-quiet 20 dBA
- Convex Cold Plate with Pre-Applied Thermal Paste: The slightly convex shape ensures maximum contact with your CPU’s integrated heat spreader, with thermal paste applied in an optimised pattern to speed up installation
- RS120 ARGB Fans: RS ARGB fans create strong airflow and high static pressure, with easy ARGB control via a compatible motherboard. CORSAIR AirGuide technology and Magnetic Dome bearings ensure great cooling performance and low noise
- Easy Daisy-Chained Connections: Reduce the wiring in your system by daisy-chaining your RS ARGB fans and connecting them to just one 4-pin PWM fan header and one +5V ARGB header
Coolant-temperature sensing
An onboard sensor monitors liquid temperature. Asetek says the reading can be used by monitoring tools and that the pump can increase speed when coolant temperature rises above a target. The stated aim is to manage heat without relying as heavily on aggressive fan-speed increases.
Fitment and installation
Asetek says the retention hardware is integrated into the pump head and installation can be completed in three steps. Its B2B versions support inlet and outlet orientations at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. Those routing options should not be assumed to appear on every retail cooler: check the specifications for the exact product and SKU.

Materials and intended load
Asetek describes the platform’s magnets as inert and corrosion-resistant and says they avoid rare-earth elements. It also says Ingrid is designed for overclocking loads of at least 400 W. That figure is a design target stated by Asetek, not an independently measured result or a guarantee that a particular partner cooler will sustain that load in every system.
What performance has Asetek published?
Asetek’s 2026 product-page and platform materials publish the figures below. They are vendor claims; the cited material does not include an independent laboratory comparison. In particular, the 3°C figure in the product-page scenario is described as a variance, so it should not be interpreted as a measured temperature reduction.

| Published figure | What Asetek says it represents | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3°C lower CPU temperature | Asetek’s 2026 statement for Ingrid versus respective predecessors under typical TDP. | A vendor-reported maximum, not an independent test result. The cited statement does not specify a single common wattage or ambient temperature for this broad comparison. |
| 3°C variance versus Emma V2 [Gen8] | Asetek’s product-page comparison using an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, a 300 W thermal load and 22°C ambient temperature. | Asetek calls this a variance; the cited description does not establish its direction. It is a specific vendor comparison, not proof of a universal advantage. |
| 18–20 dB(A) at 25 cm | Asetek’s 2026 acoustic claim for Ingrid Mainstream [Gen9], measured from 25 cm. | A vendor-published sound figure with the stated measurement distance. It does not establish that every Ingrid-based cooler will produce that noise level in a different system or test setup. |
These figures are not directly interchangeable: one is a broad “up to” comparison under typical TDP, one is a stated variance in a defined product-page scenario, and one is an acoustic measurement at a specified distance. A cooler comparison should use the same CPU, power limit, ambient conditions, fan settings and measurement method wherever possible.

A platform association also does not mean those products share identical fans, radiators, controls or performance. Check the manufacturer’s listing for the precise model and SKU before comparing or buying.
What should you check before choosing an Ingrid-based cooler?
Ingrid describes the underlying cooling platform, so choose based on the finished cooler and the needs of your system. Compare these details on the exact model you are considering:
Quick Recap
- Radiator size and case fit: confirm radiator dimensions, thickness, tube clearance and mounting support in your case.
- Socket compatibility: check the cooler’s current socket list rather than inferring compatibility from the Ingrid name.
- Control options: determine how pump speed, fans and coolant-temperature readings are controlled and monitored.
- Noise and thermal evidence: look for results that specify the test hardware, CPU power, ambient temperature, fan settings and sound-measurement distance.
- Features and service terms: compare any display or lighting, warranty and price for the specific retail SKU.
- Routing: confirm whether the model actually offers the inlet/outlet orientation options Asetek describes for B2B versions.
