The 93-mph figure attached to leaked footage and photos of DJI’s first FPV drone was a pre-release rumor, not the confirmed top speed. When DJI announced the DJI FPV on March 2, 2021, it rated the released aircraft for a maximum of 140 kph (87 mph). The leak did reveal the broad shape of an integrated FPV system, but its headline speed did not match DJI’s published specification.
What did the DJI FPV leak show?
On December 3, 2020, Engadget reported leaked photos that appeared to show an upcoming DJI FPV aircraft, goggles and dedicated controller. The report described a raised canopy and three-bladed propellers, and repeated a rumored top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph). At the time, the images and specifications were unconfirmed. A February 15, 2021 hands-on and unboxing report showed what was described as a pre-production package: the aircraft, goggles, controller, batteries, propellers and other accessories. How fast is the released DJI FPV?
DJI’s March 2, 2021 launch announcement specifies a maximum speed of 140 kph (87 mph), rather than the leak-era 150 km/h (93 mph). DJI also claimed acceleration from 0 to 100 kph in two seconds. So, the aircraft DJI released was not officially rated faster than the 93-mph rumor: its published maximum was 87 mph. The leak’s speed figure was six mph higher than DJI’s stated figure, but it should not be presented as a confirmed flight result.
What kind of drone did DJI reveal?
The DJI FPV was an integrated first-person-view quadcopter system, combining the aircraft with DJI FPV Goggles V2 and a dedicated remote controller. DJI also offered an optional single-handed motion controller. The system was positioned between the immersive, high-speed feel of FPV flying and the camera and transmission features associated with consumer drones.

Video and transmission
DJI listed O3 transmission with a maximum range of up to 10 km and bitrate of up to 50 Mbps. The aircraft’s camera records 4K video at up to 60 frames per second, with RockSteady electronic image stabilization. The range and bitrate are published maximums, not guarantees for every flight environment.
Flight time
DJI support lists approximately 20 minutes of maximum battery life when the aircraft flies at a constant 40 km/h in windless conditions. That is a specific test condition, not a promise of 20 minutes during fast, aggressive FPV flying. DJI FPV specifications

What comes in the DJI FPV Combo?
The leaked pre-production package was reported to include the aircraft, goggles, controller, batteries, propellers and other accessories. The name “Combo” refers to a packaged system rather than just the aircraft; exact contents can depend on the specific package and market. Check the contents listed by the seller for the version available in your region before buying. The optional motion controller is a separate control option described by DJI, not a reason to assume every package includes it.

How does it differ from a racing FPV build?
The DJI FPV’s main distinction is integration: aircraft, goggles, transmission and camera are designed to work as a system. A custom racing FPV build can be faster, but requires separately selected components and piloting skill. The relevant trade-offs include speed and acceleration, available flight modes, camera stabilization, transmission performance, endurance, obstacle-sensing assistance, repairability and the cost of assembling or replacing the complete system. The 93-mph rumor alone does not establish that the DJI FPV outperforms custom racing drones.
