Yes—many Fortnite skins bought in the Item Shop with V-Bucks can be returned, but the route depends on how you got the skin and when you bought it. You can cancel an eligible purchase within 24 hours if you have not used or equipped the item; after that, an eligible purchase from the last 30 days may be returned with a Return Ticket. Battle Pass rewards are not eligible through these tools, and purchases made with real money follow a separate refund process.
First check how you got the skin
Fortnite’s in-game Cancel Purchase and Return Ticket tools are for eligible Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks. A skin unlocked as a Battle Pass reward is earned through gameplay, not bought as an eligible Item Shop purchase, so these tools do not apply.

Real-money purchases are handled separately. If a third-party store or platform processed the payment, use that seller’s refund process; if Epic processed it, follow Epic’s applicable refund instructions. The correct route depends on the transaction source.
When can you return a V-Bucks purchase?
| Situation | Rule | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Within 24 hours of purchase | Cancel Purchase can reverse an eligible purchase if the item has not been used or equipped in any game mode. Each item can be canceled once. Epic’s current help guidance gives this window as 24 hours. | Open the return screen promptly and confirm the item is eligible. |
| More than 24 hours, but within 30 days | An eligible purchase from the previous 30 days may be returned using a Return Ticket, subject to ticket availability. Epic’s current help guidance states this 30-day limit. | Check that the item qualifies and that your account has a ticket. |
| Older than 30 days | The Return Ticket window does not cover the purchase. | Epic support says it cannot grant more tickets once the cancellation window has passed and none remain. |
How Return Tickets work
Epic’s current, undated help guidance says each account starts with three Return Tickets, can hold no more than three at a time, and earns one every 365 days while below the maximum. A ticket is consumed when you return an eligible item through this route. Do not assume support can add tickets if you have none.

If the purchase was a bundle, the Return Ticket process requires returning the entire bundle rather than selecting only one part. A completed cosmetic refund cannot be reversed, so check the item and confirmation details before submitting.
What cannot be returned with these tools?
Epic’s current V-Bucks purchase guidance lists the following as excluded from Cancel Purchase or Return Tickets:

How to cancel or return an eligible item
In Fortnite
- Open the Player Icon menu and choose Support and Refunds, or go to Settings → Account and Privacy. Epic’s interface labels may differ by game-menu version.
- Open the Return or Cancel Purchase option and select the purchase you want to review.
- Check the item, eligibility, and V-Bucks amount shown on screen.
- Confirm only if you are sure. The item is removed and the V-Bucks are credited when the return is processed.
On the Fortnite Item Shop website
- Sign in to the official Fortnite Item Shop.
- Open the Player Icon menu and choose Return and Cancel Purchases.
- Choose Show Purchases, then select the eligible item.
- Review the selection and the V-Bucks refund displayed before confirming.
Why a return may fail
- The skin was earned through a Pass. Gameplay rewards are not eligible purchases under these return tools.
- The purchase is outside the relevant window. Cancel Purchase has a 24-hour limit; Return Tickets cover eligible purchases from the last 30 days.
- You have no ticket available. Accounts can hold at most three tickets, with one replenished every 365 days only while below that cap.
- The item or purchase type is excluded. Review the exclusions above and the category-specific guidance.
- You used or equipped the item during the first 24 hours. That prevents Cancel Purchase, though an otherwise eligible purchase may still qualify for a Return Ticket within its window.
- The screen reports an error. Epic says the message “There was an error processing your request. Your Return Tickets items and V-Bucks were not changed” can indicate the selected item is ineligible. Check the applicable conditions in Epic’s official refund guidance.
Refunds for real-money purchases
Do not use the V-Bucks ticket rules to judge a cash purchase. Follow Epic’s refund request instructions if Epic processed the payment. If a console platform or another third-party storefront processed it, submit the request through that provider; its own terms and eligibility determine the outcome.

- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. Can Epic issue a refund without a ticket?
Epic says some specific cosmetics may be returnable without a ticket in special circumstances. This is an item-specific exception, not a general option available on request. Check the in-game offer or Epic’s current guidance for the particular cosmetic.
