Price and availability
MAINGEAR’s July 25, 2024 launch announcement said the ML-17 was immediately available and started at $3,899 at that time. That figure does not establish today’s price, configuration costs or inventory. Those can change, so check MAINGEAR’s live configurator for current options and availability.
What the RTX 4090 configuration means for buyers
The ML-17 combines a high-end mobile processor and laptop GPU with a high-refresh-rate QHD screen. The 240Hz maximum refresh rate and G-Sync support are relevant to gamers seeking smoother motion, but the listed specifications alone do not establish how many frames a particular game will deliver. Performance depends on the game, settings, power limits and cooling under sustained load.

For a meaningful comparison with another large gaming laptop, look beyond the GPU name. Check the laptop GPU’s power configuration and independent sustained-performance testing, then weigh the screen, memory and storage options against the system’s size and price. No reproducible frame-rate or thermal results for this exact ML-17 configuration are established here.
Upgrade capacity and connectivity
MAINGEAR lists a memory ceiling of 64GB DDR5-4800 and support for up to three M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs, each with capacity up to 4TB. That provides room for substantial local game and project storage. The specification establishes supported capacities, but does not by itself confirm how straightforward internal access or upgrades are; check the applicable service documentation before opening the laptop.

Two Thunderbolt 5 ports offer a high-speed connection option for compatible external storage, displays or a dock. The machine also has USB-A, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort and Ethernet, alongside audio connections and a card reader. Verify the exact output and charging capabilities required by any peripheral rather than assuming every port supports every function.
Portability and battery expectations
At approximately 7.25 pounds and 0.98 inches thick, the ML-17 is a large, heavy laptop; its 330W charger adds to what a user must carry. MAINGEAR lists a 99Wh battery, but capacity is not a runtime estimate. No independent battery-runtime measurement for this exact configuration is established here, so battery life should not be inferred from the Wh figure.

Which ML-17 is this?
The 2024 refresh covered here uses the Core i9-14900HX. MAINGEAR’s support materials also document an earlier ML-17 Mk. I variant with a Core i9-13900HX and RTX 4090 Mobile. Confirm the processor and model generation when comparing listings, looking up drivers or seeking support; the shared ML-17 name does not make the two configurations identical.
