Sidekicks are cosmetic companions, not gameplay helpers; Epic says they provide no gameplay advantage and do not take damage. Visibility rules outside Battle Royale vary by experience, and Epic does not specify them all.
Can other players see your Sidekick?
It depends on the Fortnite experience. Epic’s official Sidekicks listing states: “In Battle Royale, you can only see your team’s Sidekicks.” Under that documented rule, opponents in Battle Royale do not see your Sidekick.
Epic says visibility varies in other Fortnite experiences, so the Battle Royale rule should not be assumed to apply everywhere. Epic Player Support lists Battle Royale, Save the World, Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite and developer-made experiences as places a Sidekick may accompany you. It does not give a separate visibility rule for every mode.
Festival and developer-made islands
In Fortnite Festival, the Sidekick stays backstage, according to Epic Player Support. On developer-made islands, the island’s creator must enable Sidekicks. These details describe where a Sidekick can appear; they do not establish a general visibility rule for other players in those experiences.

Do Sidekicks affect gameplay?
No. Epic Player Support says Sidekicks “do not provide any gameplay advantage and don’t take damage.” They react to the world and can be interacted with through Sidekick Emotes, but Epic describes them as friendly cosmetics rather than combat or utility companions.

Epic’s October 30, 2025 announcement says names and accessories can be changed, while selected physical appearance traits determine how the Sidekick looks going forward. Epic Player Support explains that eligible appearance customization is a one-time choice: after you lock it in, those choices are permanent. You may own multiple copies with different appearances, but duplicate appearances are not allowed.
