To make Microsoft Edge open a chosen website in a new tab, set that site as your homepage, then select the homepage as the new-tab destination if your Edge version offers that option. The Home button, startup page, and New tab page are separate settings, so changing only the Home button may not affect new tabs.
Set a homepage and use it for new tabs

In Microsoft Edge, select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner, then select Settings.

Open Start, home, and new tab page.

Under the home-button settings, turn on Show home button. Choose the option to enter a URL, then type or paste the website address you want.

In the same settings area, check the new-tab options. If your version offers a choice to open new tabs with your homepage, select it.

Open a new tab to check what appears. If you still see Edge’s New tab page, return to the settings and confirm that the new-tab destination—not just the Home button—is set to the homepage.

Know which page each setting controls

Homepage: The website associated with the Home button. Set the URL and enable the button if you want to open that site from the toolbar.

New tab page: The page Edge displays when you open a new tab. Its customization is separate from the Home button; see Microsoft’s New tab page guidance.

Startup page: What Edge displays when the browser launches. This is another separate choice in Start, home, and new tab page, as Microsoft explains in its Edge settings overview.
If the homepage option is missing
Edge’s available choices can vary between versions. If you do not see an option to use the homepage for new tabs, the homepage setting will still configure the Home button, but the cited Microsoft instructions do not establish that every version supports using that URL for every new tab. Check the new-tab controls in your installed version; do not assume the startup or Home button setting changes them.
