Remove an unwanted keyboard layout from Settings > Time & language > Language & region: open the options for the language entry that contains the layout, then remove it under Keyboards. You do not need to remove the whole language pack.
Remove the keyboard layout in Settings
- Open Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
- Find the language entry that contains the unwanted layout. Open that entry’s more-options menu and select Language options. Settings labels and controls can vary with interface revisions.
- Under Keyboards, select the layout you want to remove and choose Remove.
A keyboard layout controls how your keystrokes produce characters; removing one does not change the Windows display language. Removing a layout is also different from removing a language pack, so use the keyboard’s Remove control rather than deleting a language if you only want to stop using that layout. If you cannot find the layout
A layout is not necessarily listed under a language pack with the same language. Check the keyboard options for both the language that matches the layout and your current Windows display language. To see which layouts are installed, select the input-language icon on the taskbar; you can also hold the Windows logo key and press Spacebar to cycle through them. Microsoft explains this behavior in its language and keyboard settings guide.
If Remove is greyed out
Microsoft says the control is unavailable when the selected layout is the only keyboard layout installed for the current Windows display language. Add another layout first, then return to the unwanted layout’s entry under Keyboards and remove it. The Microsoft support procedure covers both adding and removing layouts.
