On a Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings and tap your Samsung account name at the top to find most account controls. From there, you can adjust personalization preferences and Samsung Cloud sync; Samsung Account notifications are managed separately in the app settings. Menu names and available options vary by country, device, software version, and provider, so treat the paths below as Samsung-documented examples.
Find your Samsung account settings
- Open Settings on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Tap the Samsung account name or profile at the top of the screen.
- Choose the account area you need, such as profile information, connected devices, services, or security.
Samsung’s Canada management guide says these account controls are available from the account area in Settings, but it covers devices sold in Canada and cautions that menus may differ elsewhere. See Samsung’s Samsung account setup and management guide.
Change privacy and personalization preferences
Adjust Customization Service preferences
Samsung’s documented device path is Settings > Cloud and accounts > Accounts > Samsung account > Privacy > Customization Service. The wording or location may differ on newer devices. Samsung also describes changing preferences across registered devices at account.samsung.com under Personal information settings. Its Customization Service page cautions that disabling the service may change the customized user experience.
Customization Service preferences are not the same as disabling every Samsung account service or sync feature. Check the relevant controls individually if you want to change more than personalization.

Review or manage personal data
Samsung’s Privacy site says, “For services or apps which require a Samsung Account, you can see, download, or delete the personal data Samsung currently has collected.” The portal directs users to location-specific privacy information; rights and available options depend on the country or region.
Choose what Samsung Cloud syncs and which network it uses
- Open Settings and tap your Samsung account name.
- Tap Samsung Cloud.
- Select an app to open its sync settings, then use the available switches to choose which items sync.
- If shown, set Sync using to Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi or mobile data.
These per-app controls determine what selected Samsung Cloud apps sync and whether the sync can use mobile data. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guide also covers backing up or re-syncing selected Samsung Cloud data: Samsung account will not sync on phone or tablet.

Distinguish Cloud sync from automatic account sync
Auto sync data is a separate account-level control, not a replacement for Samsung Cloud’s individual app and item choices. Samsung’s documented route is Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts; turn on Auto sync data there. The exact menu labels can vary by device and software version.

- Open Settings > Apps.
- Tap More options, then choose Show system apps.
- Select Samsung Account, then tap Notifications.
- Open General notifications to adjust the available notification preferences or categories.
These steps are from Samsung UK support; labels may differ by device. To dismiss an alert from the lock screen, Samsung says to tap and hold it, then switch off Allow Notifications or Show Notifications, depending on the label shown. See Samsung UK’s Samsung Account instructions.

If your Samsung account will not sync on your phone or tablet
- Check the Samsung Cloud app and item switches first; a disabled selection will not sync that content.
- Check the Sync using choice and whether your current connection meets it. With Wi-Fi only selected, a mobile-data connection alone will not meet that network preference.
- Check whether Auto sync data is enabled under Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts. This is separate from Samsung Cloud’s per-app settings.
- Use Samsung’s sync troubleshooting guide for its additional backup and re-sync steps.
