You can also turn on automatic recording in the Phone app’s call settings. The option is not available in every country or region, so check for it before relying on the instructions below.
Check whether call recording is available
Samsung says, “The availability of the call recording function varies depending on the country or region you are in.” If you do not see the recording option, it may not be enabled for your location or software version; the Galaxy S22 name alone does not guarantee that the feature is available. Samsung also notes that menu labels and steps can vary by software version.
To check, open Samsung’s Phone app and look in its settings for Record calls. If that menu is missing, your phone does not expose the built-in controls in its current configuration. Samsung’s [support explanation] describes why the function may appear differently on the same product.
Record a call manually
- Place or answer a call in the Samsung Phone app.
- While the call is active, tap More options, then tap Record call. If your version shows a Record control directly on the call screen, tap that instead.
- To finish, use the stop control shown on the call screen, if available. The labels and layout may differ by software version.
Samsung’s call-recording instructions describe the built-in workflow. Samsung says call recording does not work during Wi-Fi calling, so use a supported cellular call if the recording control is unavailable or does not work.

Turn on automatic call recording
If the setting is available, the Phone app can automatically record calls according to the categories offered on your device.
- Open Phone.
- Tap More options (the three-dot menu), then Settings.
- Tap Record calls > Auto record calls.
- Turn on the feature and choose from the call types presented.
The available categories and labels can vary. If Record calls or Auto record calls is absent, automatic recording is not exposed in your current setup.

Find, play, and share recordings
Samsung documents this route in the Phone app: Phone > More options > Settings > Record calls > Recorded calls. Select a recording to play it; use the share control on a selected file to send it through an available app.
You may also find recordings in Voice Recorder or My Files, commonly under Internal storage > Recordings > Voice Recorder. Folder organization can vary by software and app version. See Samsung’s guide to recording, playing back, and sharing recordings for its documented access options.

Important limitations and consent
- Wi-Fi calling: Samsung India says call recording does not work with Wi-Fi calling.
- Two-way recording: Samsung says its default Phone app supports recording both sides of a call. Third-party recording apps may work differently and may not capture the other person’s voice.
- Consent and local rules: Laws on recording calls vary by location. Check the rules that apply to you and consider telling the other person before recording.
