Then open the game’s controls settings to select a wheel profile or configure steering, pedals, buttons, and force feedback. There is no single calibration procedure that applies to every Xbox wheel and game.
1. Check that the wheel and game are compatible
Compatibility depends on three things: the wheel’s exact platform edition, your Xbox generation, and the particular game. Check the wheel maker’s current support page and the game’s compatibility information before connecting everything. Logitech lists the Xbox edition of the G923 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, but says the game must support Logitech force-feedback wheels. Microsoft also notes that wheel capabilities vary and that games must account for those differences.
- Make sure you have the Xbox edition of the wheel, not a PlayStation-only edition.
- Confirm support for your console generation and the game you intend to play.
- Check whether the game supports the wheel’s force feedback and any other features you expect to use.

2. Mount and connect the wheel
Secure the wheel base, connect the pedals to the port specified in the manual, attach the power adapter if the model requires one, and connect the wheel’s USB cable to the Xbox. Follow the wiring diagram for your exact model: cable and power requirements are not the same for every wheel.

For example, Logitech’s G923 quick-start guide illustrates connecting the Xbox One version with its pedals, power adapter, and USB cable. Logitech lists the G923 as a wired USB wheel and specifies a 24V, 1.75A AC adapter; these are G923 specifications, not general Xbox-wheel requirements. 3. Let startup calibration finish
When a wheel performs its connection self-test, keep your hands and loose objects clear of the rim. Logitech’s G923 quick-start guide says: “Every time your racing wheel connects with your system, it will rotate fully to each side and then to the center to calibrate.” It adds that the wheel is ready once calibration is completed. Wait for that movement to finish before playing. This describes the G923; not every wheel calibrates in the same way.

4. Configure the wheel in your racing game
Once the console recognizes the wheel, start a game that supports it and open the game’s controls or input settings. If available, choose a wheel profile, then check that steering, throttle, brake, and buttons are assigned as intended. Follow any in-game calibration prompt. Menu names and options vary by game, and a successful USB connection does not guarantee that a game has configured every control automatically.
Thrustmaster notes that GRID Legends on Xbox requires manual button and axis configuration in the game’s Xbox Input Wheel controls for the T248. That is a game-specific example, not a universal Xbox menu path. Thrustmaster T248 Xbox support.

5. Check for a model-specific compatibility mode
Some wheels provide modes for particular games or compatibility needs. For the Thrustmaster T598, Native is the default Xbox mode and Legacy is its backward-compatibility mode. Thrustmaster says F1 23, F1 24, and F1 25 require Legacy mode on this wheel, and recommends selecting Legacy if an Xbox game has compatibility or functionality problems. 6. Tune steering and feedback after inputs work
After confirming that the game detects the wheel and pedals, adjust the available controls in the game’s settings. Depending on the game, these may include steering rotation, dead zones, sensitivity, and force feedback. Make changes in small steps and check the result in-game; the useful setting depends on both the wheel and the game.

Logitech lists a maximum rotation of 900 degrees for the G923. That is a product specification, not a recommended setting for every game or a value that applies to other wheels. Logitech G923 specifications.

- The wheel does not appear to connect: Recheck the model’s USB, power, and pedal connections against its manual, and verify that it is the Xbox-compatible edition.
- The wheel connects but the game does not respond: Confirm that the game supports the wheel, then inspect its controls menu for a wheel profile, axis assignments, or setup prompts.
- Some controls work but others do not: Check button and pedal assignments in the game. Some games require manual configuration, as in the T248 and GRID Legends example above.
- A supported game still has compatibility problems: Check the manufacturer’s current instructions for your exact model. A mode change may help on models with documented compatibility modes, such as the T598, but those instructions do not apply to all wheels.
- Steering or force feedback feels wrong: After input recognition is confirmed, review the game’s steering, dead-zone, sensitivity, and force-feedback settings where available.
Support lists, firmware, and game compatibility can change. For current model-specific steps, consult the wheel maker’s support page and the game’s own controls information.
