To uninstall Neat Video on a Mac, quit the video-editing app that uses it, then run the Neat Video folder’s included Uninstall.app. For Neat Video v6, the vendor’s example folder is /Applications/Neat Video v6 for <HostName>/; the host name and folder can differ by installation.
Use Neat Video’s uninstaller first
- Quit the host app. Close the video editor that loads Neat Video, such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or another supported host.
- Find the Neat Video folder. In Finder, open Applications and look for the folder matching your Neat Video release and host. Neat Video’s FAQ gives
/Applications/Neat Video v6 for <HostName>/as a v6 example; replace<HostName>with the relevant host name. This is not a universal path for every release or installation. Neat Video’s FAQ documents the example path. - Run the uninstaller. Open that folder, launch
Uninstall.app, and follow its on-screen prompts. Neat Video specifically directs Mac users to the uninstaller included in the folder. - Check the result. Reopen the host application and confirm that Neat Video is no longer available as a plug-in.
If you can’t find Uninstall.app
First check which Neat Video version and host you installed, then look for the corresponding folder in Applications. The folder name is host- and release-specific, so searching for a single fixed path can miss the installation.
If the supplied uninstaller is genuinely absent, Apple’s general guidance for third-party apps is to quit the app and, when there is no uninstaller, move the app to the Trash. This Finder fallback is not a verified substitute for Neat Video’s host-specific uninstaller and does not establish that all plug-in components have been removed. Avoid deleting plug-in, preference, cache, or support folders based on a guessed location. See Apple’s instructions for deleting or uninstalling apps on Mac.
What uninstalling does—and does not do
- Your projects and other files: Removing an app does not remove documents or other files you created with it, Apple says. Keep projects you still need. Apple Support
- Your subscription: Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription associated with the app. Cancel it separately through the relevant account or billing provider if that is your goal.
- Items in Trash: If you use the Finder fallback, moving an item to Trash is not permanent deletion. Apple says items remain there until you empty the Trash; keep a backup if you may need to recover something. Apple’s guide to deleting files and folders
- Leftover Neat Video files: The official removal guidance does not establish one universal list of preference, cache, or license files for every version and host. Do not assume that uninstalling removes every associated file, or remove additional files without confirming they belong to your installation.
Do you need to uninstall an older release before updating?
No. Neat Video says an older version does not need to be removed before installing a newer one. Depending on the release, an update may replace the earlier version, while a new major version may coexist with it. If you are removing Neat Video rather than updating it, use the uninstaller for the relevant installed release and host.

Why the folder depends on your video editor
Neat Video is a plug-in offered for multiple hosts, including After Effects, Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, OpenFX-compatible applications, and Media Composer. Its download listing showed v6.1.3 dated May 26, 2026, with Mac listings for Apple Silicon and Intel systems running macOS 11.0 or newer. Because installations are associated with a host and release, look for the matching folder rather than expecting one identical location on every Mac. Neat Video downloads
