Yes—an iPhone can use Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag3 for supported location and sharing features through Samsung’s SmartThings app. Samsung’s Canadian listing specifies iOS 17 or later; check the product requirements for your region. The iPhone experience is limited: Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert are not available on iOS.
What you need before using SmartTag3 with an iPhone
- The exact model must be Galaxy SmartTag3. Do not assume instructions or compatibility for the original SmartTag or SmartTag2 apply to it.
- Install Samsung’s SmartThings app. Samsung Canada lists iOS 17 or later for SmartTag3; requirements may differ by market, so check your local Samsung product page.
- Keep in mind that this is not full feature parity with a Galaxy phone. Samsung says Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert are unavailable on iOS.
How to use SmartTag3 on an iPhone
- Install SmartThings. Download Samsung’s SmartThings app from the iPhone’s App Store, then open it and follow its current prompts.
- Use SmartThings Find. Samsung says supported iOS devices can check and share a SmartTag3’s location and use Search Nearby. In Samsung’s general SmartThings Find overview, the navigation path is Life > Find; the page’s detailed compatibility note refers to SmartTag2, so menus may differ for SmartTag3.
- Follow the app’s SmartTag3 setup prompts. Samsung’s published material does not specify a complete SmartTag3 pairing sequence for iPhone. Use the instructions shown in the current app or contact local Samsung support if setup stalls; older-model steps are not confirmed as valid for this tag.

Which SmartTag3 features work on iPhone?
Samsung identifies iOS as a supported platform for SmartTag3 location checking and sharing, as well as Search Nearby. Its announcement explicitly excludes three features from iOS:
- Compass View: unavailable on iPhone. Samsung describes distance and direction guidance of up to 60 meters under line-of-sight conditions, but that capability does not apply to iOS.
- Ring Phone: unavailable on iOS.
- Left Behind Alert: unavailable on iOS.
Samsung says more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide can act as finding nodes. Out-of-range finding therefore depends on participating devices being nearby, along with connectivity, settings, and region; it does not guarantee continuous or instant location updates.

Actual life varies, and some features are unavailable in Power Saving Mode.
Samsung lists a Silicone Case with keyring and a Loop Case as optional attachment accessories. They are sold separately, and availability may vary by market.

Samsung says the tag has IP67 resistance—up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes—but water and dust resistance can diminish over time. It does not advise use at the beach or pool. Keep the tag and its coin cell away from young children and pets: if the tag or battery detaches and is swallowed, seek immediate medical or veterinary attention.
