The independently measured TP01 has low cleaning throughput, so its impressive-sounding filter-capture percentage should not be mistaken for fast whole-room purification. It makes the most sense when you specifically want a fan and purifier in one device for a small room; for stronger cleaning per dollar, compare it with a dedicated air purifier and a separate fan.
What the Dyson Pure Cool does—and what its filter figures mean
Pure Cool is a family of tower and desk fans that draw air through a filter and send the treated air back into the room. The fan provides moving air for personal cooling; it is not an air conditioner and does not lower the room’s temperature.
Dyson describes its filtration as a sealed system combining a glass-fiber HEPA filter with activated carbon. Its 2026 technology page says the system captures 99.97% of microscopic allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, while the carbon targets gases. Dyson also says its tris-impregnated carbon granules capture gases including formaldehyde, benzene and nitrogen dioxide. Its tower specification describes a 360-degree borosilicate glass microfiber HEPA filter and carbon, sealed with rubber vacuum seals, and gives a different particle figure: 99.95% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.1 microns.
Those are manufacturer filtration claims, and the two figures come from different Dyson descriptions; they should not be treated as a single independently verified result for every Pure Cool model. A capture percentage describes how particles are filtered when air passes through the media. It does not tell you how quickly the appliance can process the air in an entire room. For that, airflow through the filter and room volume matter too.

- OSCILLATES UP TO 350-DEGREES: Adjustable oscillation angle from 45° to 350°, to help project purified air around the whole room.
How well does it clean a room?
TP01: low measured throughput
RTINGS’ 2026 review update measured the TP01 at 105 m³/hr (62 CFM) PM1.0 CADR and recommended it for a room of 8.9 m² (96 ft²) when run at maximum speed. RTINGS characterized its particle filtration rate as poor and said it is better suited to very small spaces such as a dorm room, bedroom or office than to a large living area. Those figures apply to the tested TP01, not automatically to other models in the family.
CADR (clean air delivery rate) is useful for comparing how much cleaned air a purifier delivers. Dyson argues on its product page that conventional CADR does not represent performance in real-size rooms and promotes its own POLAR test instead. That is Dyson’s stated methodology position; it does not make the RTINGS TP01 measurement irrelevant or establish that another Pure Cool model will clean a room at a particular speed.
Match cleaning capacity to the space
Before buying, estimate the room you want to treat and compare independent CADR or room-size guidance where it is available. The supplied model information does not establish comparable independent CADR results for TP04, TP07 and TP10, so the TP01 measurement should not be used as a stand-in for them. If you need dependable, faster particle removal across a larger space, a dedicated purifier with published room-cleaning performance is the safer comparison point.

How loud is Dyson Pure Cool?
Noise varies by model, fan speed and test method, so readings are not directly interchangeable. RTINGS measured the TP01 at 32.5 dBA on minimum and 55.0 dBA on maximum. Dyson’s tower specification lists a minimum sound level below 45 dB(A) and 63 dB(A) at maximum flow; it does not establish that those are TP01 readings. TechRadar’s TP10 review measured 26–33 dB in quiet modes and 52 dB at speed 10.
The practical trade-off is that lower settings are more suitable when quiet matters, while maximum airflow can be clearly audible. TechRadar also found the TP10’s cooling airflow smooth and perceptible at 14 ft (4.3 m), which describes airflow reach rather than room-purification capacity.
TP01, TP04, TP07 or TP10: what is different?
Do not treat the model numbers as interchangeable. The available evidence varies by model and source, so this comparison separates measured findings from listed features and prices.

| Model | What is established | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| TP01 | RTINGS’ 2026 update measured 105 m³/hr (62 CFM) PM1.0 CADR and recommended 8.9 m² (96 ft²) at maximum speed. It measured 32.5–55.0 dBA. | RTINGS considers its particle-cleaning rate poor and primarily recommends it for very small rooms. |
| TP04 | Dyson’s parts catalog lists a genuine Combi Glass HEPA and Activated Carbon replacement filter compatible with TP04. | The supplied information does not establish an independent CADR, app feature set or current price for this model. |
| TP07 | Dyson Australia lists HEPA H13 sealing, 99.95% ultrafine-particle removal, MyDyson app support and maximum airflow of 290 l/s. Its listed RRP is A$949. | The RRP is for Dyson Australia’s product page; it is not a current price for other regions or retailers. The supplied information does not include independent CADR. |
| TP10 | TechRadar’s 2025 listing specifies HEPA H13 plus activated carbon, PM2.5/PM10 sensing, 10 fan speeds and no app support. It listed prices of $429.99, £449.99 and AU$799 at publication. TechRadar measured 26–33 dB in quiet modes and 52 dB at speed 10. | Those prices are the publication-time list prices, not a promise of current availability or price. Independent CADR is not stated in the supplied information. |
Dyson’s TP07 page also promotes its POLAR testing approach, while the TP01’s independent room recommendation comes from RTINGS. Because these are different methods and models, the stated values should not be ranked as if they were directly comparable measurements.
Filter replacement and compatibility
Dyson specifies filter life of one year at 12 hours of use per day, or six months at 24 hours per day. Treat that as Dyson’s stated interval, not a guarantee that every home will reach the same replacement date. Filter cost is not stated in the cited product and support information, so include the replacement price for your region in the ownership calculation before buying.

Is one combo appliance better than a separate purifier and fan?
A Pure Cool combines two jobs in one footprint, which can be convenient if you want circulating air and filtration from one appliance. A separate setup lets you choose a purifier for cleaning capacity and a fan for airflow, rather than accepting one device’s balance of the two. The trade-off is having two units rather than one.
RTINGS notes that cheaper dedicated purifiers can perform better than the TP01 for particle cleaning. TechRadar says a separate Blueair purifier and Shark fan can cost less than the TP10, though that comparison depends on the exact products and prices available where you live. Compare the full local purchase cost, replacement-filter price and the room’s cleaning needs—not just the purifier’s advertised capture percentage.
Quick Recap
Who should buy a Dyson Pure Cool?
- Consider it if you want a fan and filtration in one appliance, value its design and controls, and are choosing a model suited to a modest room.
- Look elsewhere or compare carefully if your priority is high particle-cleaning throughput, especially across a large room. The TP01’s measured CADR is low, and equivalent independent performance figures are not established here for the other models.
- Check before purchasing if app control, particle sensing, maximum-speed noise, current regional pricing or replacement-filter availability will determine your choice. These features and figures differ by model and market.
