To reopen a tab you just closed, press Ctrl+Shift+T on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+T on a Mac. The shortcut works in Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox; press it again to restore more recently closed tabs.

Restore more than one tab
After restoring one tab, press the same shortcut again to continue through closed tabs. Chrome describes the sequence as reopening tabs “in the order they were closed”; Edge says repeated use opens other closed tabs in reverse order, starting with the most recent closure. The cited help pages do not establish a single retention limit that applies across browsers.
Use History if the shortcut does not find the tab
If repeated presses do not bring back the tab you need, look in your browser’s History. In Firefox, the specific route is History > Recently Closed Tabs; Firefox also offers Reopen Closed Tab from the tab-bar context menu. Edge recommends History for a tab closed longer ago. Menu labels and organization can vary by browser version.
What the shortcut can—and cannot—recover
Ctrl+Shift+T or Command+Shift+T undoes closing a browser tab. It is not a general-purpose tool for recovering a closed application window, a deleted file, or other lost computer data. If a page is still unavailable after checking the closed-tab sequence and History, the shortcut itself cannot restore it.
