To control which phone alerts reach Android XR glasses, check three places: the glasses’ companion app, the paired phone’s app and notification-channel settings, and the phone’s Do Not Disturb setting. For Gemini, Google has announced “Hey Google” and a tap on the side of the frame as ways to start an interaction. Exact menus and configurable voice options depend on the glasses model, so use its current companion-app help for model-specific steps.

First, identify your glasses type

Google describes two forms of intelligent eyewear: audio glasses, which provide spoken assistance, and display glasses, which can show information visually. Both can use voice, while touchpad gestures and side buttons may also be available; the specific controls vary by device. See Android Developers’ overview of input for audio and display glasses.

Google’s Android XR pages describe announced eyewear interactions, but do not provide a complete consumer settings walkthrough for each retail model. As of October 3, 2026, Google’s product page still described audio glasses as “Coming this fall” and display glasses as forthcoming; those statements do not establish that a particular model is available in every market. Check Google’s Android XR page and the manufacturer’s current information for availability.

Adjust which notifications reach the glasses

Notification delivery is controlled by several filters. The glasses companion app can have its own per-app notification toggle, separate from the phone’s notification settings. Google’s Android XR developer documentation says these companion-app toggles are off by default. If an app’s phone notifications are enabled, you may still be able to turn off that app’s notifications on the glasses.

Full screen customizations built right into the glasses: Anchor, Smooth Follow, 32:9 UltraWide, Side Mode. Auto Transparency switches between immersion and the real world with one tap. Smart Re-Centering snaps your view back instantly.
  • 【BIGGEST: THE ULTIMATE IMMERSIVE GIANT — 174″ Screen, 58° FOV, 1200p】The largest virtual display in consumer XR. Period. A 174″ screen powered by Sony's latest-generation Micro-OLED panel pushes 1200p per eye at a class-leading 58° field of view with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Every frame is edge-to-edge sharp, silky-smooth, and jaw-droppingly vivid. It's like strapping an IMAX to your face.
  • 【SMARTEST: 9-LEVEL DIMMING + AUTO TRANSPARENCY — No Software Needed】 Another reason The Beast is the smartest XR glasses ever made. One tap shifts between crystal-clear AR and full cinematic blackout across 9+ electrochromic levels — no app, no software, just hardware intelligence. Auto Transparency adapts between immersion and awareness on its own. Bright office, dim plane, pitch-dark bedroom — The Beast reads the moment for you. No glare. No reflections. Just pure immersion.
  • 【BOLDEST: NEXT-LEVEL CLARITY & AUDIO — 1250 Nits + HARMAN AudioEFX】1250 nits of peak brightness — over 2× brighter than the competition — means you can actually see your screen outdoors, in sunlight, no squinting required. Pair that with HARMAN AudioEFX: deeper bass, wider soundstage, and crystal-clear highs tuned by the world's leading audio engineers. Other XR glasses make you choose between picture and sound. The Beast gives you both — cranked to eleven.
  1. Open the glasses’ companion app. Find its notification controls and check the per-app choices. The exact menu names and location are model-specific; consult that app’s help if you cannot find them.
  2. Check the app’s phone notification settings. If notifications for the app are disabled on the phone, they will not be bridged to the glasses.
  3. Check the relevant notification channel. A disabled channel also prevents its notifications from being bridged. The location and labels for channel settings depend on the phone and Android version.
  4. Check the phone’s Do Not Disturb state. Android XR documentation says Do Not Disturb on the phone suppresses notifications on the glasses.

These settings determine whether notifications are eligible to reach the glasses; they do not guarantee that every phone alert will appear. Android XR’s notification behavior documentation describes additional system criteria, including supported notification styles and importance. Those developer-facing rules are not a set of extra user settings to change.

Use voice and frame controls for Gemini

Google’s May 19, 2026 announcement says: “Just say ‘Hey Google’ or tap the side of the frame to instantly access Gemini.” Google describes using Gemini to ask about what you see, get directions, manage calls, send texts, and summarize missed messages. The announcement establishes those ways to start Gemini; it does not establish a universal setting for changing the wake phrase, enabling it on every model, or adjusting voice behavior. For options your glasses support, follow the model’s current companion-app instructions. A side tap or other physical input may be relevant even when you primarily use voice, but its exact function varies by device.

If a notification or voice control does not work

  • An app’s alert is missing: Check the companion app’s toggle for that app, then the phone’s app notifications and relevant channel, and finally Do Not Disturb.
  • Only some alerts appear: Delivery can depend on Android XR notification criteria, not just the visible toggles. The developer documentation explains that supported styles and other characteristics matter.
  • “Hey Google” or a frame tap does not start Gemini: Confirm the behavior supported by your specific model in its companion-app help. Google’s announcement is not a guarantee that every model or market offers identical controls.
  • You cannot find an expected menu: Do not assume every Android XR device uses the same settings interface. Use the glasses maker’s current instructions rather than relying on generic menu labels.

What is and is not established

Android XR documentation establishes that glasses notifications can be filtered separately in the companion app and are also affected by phone notification settings and Do Not Disturb. Google has announced “Hey Google” and a frame-side tap for Gemini access. The reviewed official sources do not establish one universal retail-device settings path or a general way to configure the wake phrase; those details must be verified for the particular glasses.
