ChatGPT’s Space is a shared home for pages, uploaded files, and related work. People can create and revise pages with ChatGPT, then share them with collaborators. It is an organizing and collaboration feature—not evidence that AI agents are built into Space. OpenAI’s current guides describe people collaborating on pages while each uses their own ChatGPT.
What is ChatGPT Space?
OpenAI describes a Space as “a home for your pages, uploaded files, and other work in ChatGPT.” Pages are editable documents and can contain subpages, so a team can arrange related information in a hierarchy. Users can draft material in a page, use ChatGPT to revise it, or start a page from a conversation.
The title’s reference to “agents” needs a qualification: OpenAI’s Space guide explains collaboration among people, but does not establish that agents are a built-in Space feature. The documented benefit is that people can organize and share work while using ChatGPT to help create or revise page content. OpenAI’s Space guide is the source for the feature details.
Who can use Space, and where?
OpenAI’s guide says ChatGPT Pro, Business, and Enterprise users can create and edit content in Space. In managed workspaces, administrators’ sharing settings affect whether and how members can collaborate; Enterprise administrators may need to enable sharing. OpenAI also notes that Space is coming soon for Business and Enterprise workspaces with data residency in Canada or the United Arab Emirates, so users in those workspaces should check the current help page for availability.

How to create and work with pages
- Ask ChatGPT to create a Space and give it a name. OpenAI’s example is: “Create a space named Website launch.”
- Start a page from a conversation, write directly in the Space, or choose a template. For example, you can ask for “a project overview page in Website launch with our goals, timeline, and next steps.”
- Edit the page directly, or ask ChatGPT to revise its content. Use comments to point to a particular passage; use page chat for broader changes.
- Before relying on or sharing a page, check names, dates, calculations, and source information. OpenAI recommends reviewing page content for accuracy.
How sharing and permissions work
You can share an individual page or a Space and choose whether recipients can view or edit. A person’s access may come from a direct invitation, a parent page, or the containing Space. Subpages inherit access from their parent, and moving a page can change access through its new parent.

- Removing a direct invitation does not remove access the person has through a parent page or Space. Check every source of access when changing permissions.
- Uploaded files follow the page’s permissions. A link to a file stored elsewhere does not grant access to that external original; the original service controls its permissions.
- Text copied or summarized onto a shared page is visible to people who can view that page, even if they cannot open the original linked source.
Sharing a page does not give collaborators access to your private chats or ChatGPT Memory, according to OpenAI. But anything personal that you write onto a shared page is readable by people who can view it. Review both the access list and the page content before sharing. Space, Projects, and Teams address different kinds of organization. OpenAI says Space does not replace Projects, which continue to organize chats, files, and project instructions.

Teams are available in ChatGPT Business and Enterprise workspaces. One Team can be shared with multiple Spaces, and a Space can include multiple Teams. Team membership does not automatically grant access to a Space: sharing the Space with the Team is a separate step, and workspace permissions still apply.
